Hadith 8378
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا بَشَّرَاهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ غَضًّا كَمَا أُنْزِلَ فَلْيَقْرَأْ عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) gave him the glad tidings that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever wishes to recite the Qur'an as fresh as it was revealed, then let him recite according to the recitation of the son of Umm 'Abd (Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 8379
عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ قَالَ غَضًّا أَوْ رَطْبًا
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated a similar hadith of the Prophet, however, in it are the words "ghaddan aw ratban."
Hadith 8380
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ غَرِيضًا كَذَا قَالَ كَمَا أُنْزِلَ فَلْيَقْرَأْهُ عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever wants to recite the Qur'an fresh as it was revealed, then he should recite according to the recitation of Ibn Umm Abd, that is, Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 8381
عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فَذُكِرَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ ذَاكَ لَرَجُلٌ لَا أَزَالُ أُحِبُّهُ أَبَدًا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ خُذُوا الْقُرْآنَ عَنْ أَرْبَعَةٍ عَنْ ابْنِ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ فَبَدَأَ بِهِ وَعَنْ مُعَاذٍ وَعَنْ سَالِمٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ يَعْلَى أَحَدُ الرُّوَاةِ وَنَسِيتُ الرَّابِعَ
Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with them), and the mention of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came up. He said: I have loved this man ever since I heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Learn the Qur’an from these four persons: Ibn Umm Abd, Mu’adh, the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah, Salim. He (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Ibn Umm Abd, that is, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), first. Ya’la, the narrator, says: I forgot the name of the fourth.
Hadith 8382
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اسْتَقْرِئُوا الْقُرْآنَ مِنْ أَرْبَعَةٍ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَسَالِمٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ وَمُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ وَأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Learn the Qur'an from these four individuals: Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Salim the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah, Mu'adh bin Jabal, and Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with them).
Hadith 8383
عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ جَمَعَ الْقُرْآنَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَعَةُ نَفَرٍ كُلُّهُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ وَزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَأَبُو زَيْدٍ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that during the blessed era of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), four individuals had memorized the entire Qur’an; all of them were from among the Ansar: Ubayy ibn Ka’b, Mu’adh ibn Jabal, Zayd ibn Thabit, and Abu Zayd.
