Sayyiduna Aswad bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the prayer had already started in the mosque and we were coming along with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). When the people bowed (in ruku'), Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) also bowed and we bowed along with him, even though we were still walking. Meanwhile, a man passed by and said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! As-salamu 'alaykum. Hearing this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said in the state of ruku': "Sadaq Allahu wa Rasuluhu" (Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth). When he finished the prayer, some people asked: When a man greeted you with salam, why did you say that Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth? He replied: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that among the signs of the Hour is that salam will be given only on the basis of acquaintance.

(Second chain) Tariq bin Shihab says: We were sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man came and said: The iqamah has been called. He stood up and we also stood up. When we entered the mosque, we saw that the people in the front part of the mosque were in the state of bowing (ruku‘). He said "Allahu Akbar" and (before reaching the row) performed ruku‘, and we also performed ruku‘. Then we moved forward in the state of ruku‘ (and stood in the row), and we kept doing as he did. A man passed by in haste and said: Abu Abdur Rahman! Peace be upon you. He replied: Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. When we finished the prayer and returned, he went to his family. We sat down and began to say to each other: Did you hear that he replied to that man by saying: Allah has spoken the truth and His Messengers have conveyed (His message)? Who among you will ask him about what he did? Tariq said: I will ask. When he came out, he was asked. In reply, he said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Before the Day of Judgment, greetings (salaam) will be given only to specific people, and trade will become widespread, to the extent that a wife will help her husband in business matters. Also, severing of family ties, false testimony, concealing true testimony, and writing and reading (will also become common).
