Hadith 8216
Abu Wasil says: I met Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari, he shook hands with me, and when he saw my long nails, he said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You ask about matters of the heavens, but you keep your nails long like the claws of birds; in them, impurity, filth, and dirt accumulate. Waki’ once did not mention the word Ansari with Abu Ayyub’s name, and other narrators have said Abu Ayyub ‘Ataki. Abu Abdur Rahman said: My father said: Imam Waki’ made a slip of the tongue and said that I met Abu Ayyub Ansari, whereas it was actually Abu Ayyub ‘Ataki.
Hadith 8217
Yazid bin Amr Mu'afiri reports from a man of Banu Ghifar that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever does not shave the hair below the navel, does not trim the nails, and does not cut the mustache, is not from among us.
Hadith 8218
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that someone said to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Jibreel (peace be upon him) has delayed in meeting you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Why should he not delay, when you are around me—you neither use the miswak, nor trim your nails, nor cut your moustaches, nor wash the joints of your fingers properly.
Hadith 8219
Sayyiduna Suwadah bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I asked him a question, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that a camel be given to me and said: When you return to your home, instruct them to provide good food to the newborn camel calves during the spring season, and that they should also trim their nails so that when they milk the animals, they do not injure the udders of the livestock with their nails.
