Hadith 8037
Abdur Rahman bin Tarafah’s grandfather, Sayyiduna ‘Arfajah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that in the battle of Kilab during the Age of Ignorance, his nose was cut off. He had a nose made of silver fitted, but it began to emit a bad odor. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed him to have a nose made of gold.
Hadith 8038
Abdur Rahman bin Tarafah bin Arfajah narrates from his grandfather Sayyiduna Arfajah (may Allah be pleased with him) that his nose was cut off in the battle of Kilab. Kilab was actually the name of a water source (i.e., a well or a spring), near which a battle took place during the days of ignorance. Then he mentioned a narration similar to the one above, except that in this one it is stated: Then, because of the gold, it did not become foul-smelling.
Hadith 8039
Abu Abdur Rahman says: I heard from my father, he said: A group of hadith scholars came and sought permission to visit Abu Ashhab, he granted permission, they came and said to Abu Ashhab: Narrate hadith to us, he said: You ask questions, they said: We have no questions, then from behind the curtain his daughter said: Ask him about the hadith of ‘Arfajah bin As‘ad, whose nose was cut off on the day of Kilab.
