Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our house to meet us. He (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man whose hair was disheveled. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Does he not have the means to arrange his hair?" And he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw another man who was wearing dirty clothes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Does he not have anything with which he can wash his clothes?"
Hadith 7899
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Ibn Hanzaliyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are going to your brothers, so set right your mounts and your clothes, for surely Allah Almighty dislikes foul speech and obscene language."
Hadith 7900
Sayyiduna Malik bin Nadlah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I had covered myself with one or two sheets and my condition was somewhat disheveled. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: Do you have wealth? I said: Yes, absolutely, Allah Almighty has granted me all kinds of wealth—horses, camels, goats, and slaves. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If Allah Almighty has given you wealth, then the effects of His blessing should be visible on you. Upon hearing this, when I next went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I was wearing a red garment.
Hadith 7901
Sayyiduna Abu Raja’ Ataridi says: Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) came before us and he was wearing a cloak made of wool and silk. We had never seen such a cloak before or after that. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him and said: Whoever Allah Almighty has bestowed blessings upon, Allah also likes that the effect of His blessing be seen on His creation.
Hadith 7902
Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wear white clothes and shroud your dead in them as well.
Hadith 7903
A similar hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), but in it are these words: Wear white clothes from among your garments.
Hadith 7904
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) wearing a white garment and asked: "Is this new or has it been washed?" Ibn Umar says: I do not know what reply Sayyiduna Umar gave. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him this supplication: "Wear new clothes, live a praiseworthy life, and die a martyr's death." I think that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also gave this supplication: "May Allah grant you the coolness of your eyes in this world and the Hereafter."
