Hadith 7875
Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a black slave girl came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and this was at the time when he (peace be upon him) had returned from a military expedition. She came and said: I had made a vow that if Allah Almighty returned you safely and in good health, I would beat the drum (duff). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If you have made this vow, then fulfill it, and if it is not so, then do not do this. So she began to beat the drum. Meanwhile, when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came, she kept beating it, and others also came and she kept beating it, but when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) entered, she put the drum behind her and covered herself with a cloth. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Umar! Even Satan is afraid of you. I was sitting, she was beating the drum, these people also came, but she kept beating the drum; when you entered, she did such and such.
Hadith 7876
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to me and two slave girls with me were beating the drum. He scolded them, but the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Leave them, indeed every nation has a festival (on which they rejoice).
