Hadith 7822
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the last era, a believer’s dream will not be false, and the truest dream among you is the one whose speech is the most truthful. There are three types of dreams: a good dream, which is glad tidings from Allah Almighty; a dream that consists of a person’s own thoughts; and a distressing dream, which is from Satan. When any one of you sees a dream he dislikes, he should not relate it to anyone, but should stand up and offer prayer. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I like to see chains in a dream and dislike to see a collar, because chains are a sign of firmness in religion. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A believer’s dream is one forty-sixth part of prophethood.
Hadith 7823
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you sees a dream, if it is pleasing, then it is from Allah Almighty; he should praise Him for it and he may relate it to others. But if he sees any other dream which he dislikes, then it is from Satan; he should seek refuge with Allah Almighty from its evil and should not mention it to anyone, it will not harm him.
Hadith 7824
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you sees a dream which he dislikes, he should spit three times to his left and seek Allah’s protection from Satan three times (i.e., recite: A‘udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajim), and he should change the side on which he was lying.
Hadith 7825
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I used to see such dreams that, out of fear, I would get a fever and could not even cover myself with a sheet. (In another narration: I used to see such dreams that would make me ill.) One day I met Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned this to him. He narrated this hadith to me: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A good dream is from Allah Almighty, and bad dreams are from Satan. When any of you sees a dream that he dislikes, he should not inform anyone about it, and he should spit three times to his left and seek refuge in Allah Almighty from its evil. (It should be kept in mind that) this dream will not harm him. Sufyan, the narrator, narrated once in this way: He will not see anything disliked. In another narration: When any of you sees a pleasant dream, he should narrate it only to the one whom he loves.
