بَابُ النَّهْي عَنِ الْأَقْدَامِ عَلَى أَرْضِ بِهَا الطَّاعُونُ وَ عَنِ الْخُرُوجِ مِنْ أَرْضِ فِرَارًا مِنْهُ
Chapter on the Prohibition of Entering a Land with Plague and Leaving It to Flee from It
Hadith 7800
عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ ذُكِرَ الطَّاعُونُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رِجْزٌ أُصِيبَ بِهِ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ بِهَا وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was mentioned about the plague. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This was a punishment which was sent to the people before you. When it occurs in any area, do not enter it, and when you are present in a land and the plague breaks out there, then do not leave from there.
Hadith 7801
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ خَرَجَ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ سَرْغَ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ الْوَبَاءَ قَدْ وَقَعَ بِالشَّامِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ فَرَجَعَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مِنْ سَرْغَ (وَفِي لَفْظٍ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ)
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi’ah narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) went towards Syria. When he reached the place of Sargh, he received news that a plague had broken out in Syria. Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated there that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you hear that a plague has broken out in a land, do not go into it, and when you are in such a place where the plague has broken out, then do not leave it fleeing from it. Thus, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from the place of Sargh. In one narration, it is mentioned: Upon this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) thanked Allah Almighty and returned.
Hadith 7802
عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خَالِدٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَوْ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ إِذَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْرَبُوهَا
Ikrimah bin Khalid Makhzumi narrates from his father or his uncle, and he narrates from his father, that on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When plague occurs in any land and you are present there, do not go out from it, and when plague breaks out in a region where you are not present, do not enter that region.
Hadith 7803
عَنْ فَرْوَةَ بْنِ مُسَيْكٍ الْمُرَادِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَرْضًا عِنْدَنَا يُقَالُ لَهَا أَرْضُ أَبْيَنَ هِيَ أَرْضُ رِفْقَتِنَا وَمِيرَتِنَا وَإِنَّهَا وَبِئَةٌ أَوْ قَالَ إِنَّ بِهَا وَبَاءً شَدِيدًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعْهَا عَنْكَ فَإِنَّ مِنَ الْقَرَفِ التَّلَفَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Farwah bin Maseek Muradi (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! We have a land called Abin, it is a fertile area and our grain and so on is also obtained from it, but it is afflicted with plague and there is a severe outbreak of plague there." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave it, for being near the plague is destruction."
