Hadith 7781
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا طِيَرَةَ وَخَيْرُهَا الْفَأْلُ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْفَأْلُ قَالَ الْكَلِمَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ يَسْمَعُهَا أَحَدُكُمْ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no such thing as bad omen, but the best is a good omen. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is a good omen? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A good word which any one of you hears.
Hadith 7782
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا الطِّيَرَةُ قَالَ لَا طَائِرَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَقَالَ خَيْرُ الْفَأْلِ الْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that it was asked from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: O Messenger of Allah! What is bad omen? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: There is no such thing as a bad omen. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said this sentence three times, then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: A good word is a good omen.
Hadith 7783
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحِبُّ الْفَأْلَ الْحَسَنَ وَيَكْرَهُ الطِّيَرَةَ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked good omens and disliked bad omens.
Hadith 7784
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَفَاءَلُ وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُ وَيُعْجِبُهُ الِاسْمُ الْحَسَنُ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to take good omens and did not take bad omens. He (peace and blessings be upon him) liked good names.
Hadith 7785
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعَ صَوْتًا فَأَعْجَبَهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ أَخَذْنَا فَأْلَكَ مِنْ فِيكَ
Syedna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard a pleasant voice that he liked, he would say to the one who made the sound: We have taken a good omen from the voice that came from your mouth.
Hadith 7786
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا طِيَرَةَ وَيُعْجِبُنِي الْفَأْلُ قَالَ وَالْفَأْلُ الْكَلِمَةُ الْحَسَنَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is nothing in bad omens, and I like good omens. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By good omen is meant a good word.
Hadith 7787
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَتَطَيَّرُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ امْرَأَةً سَأَلَ عَنِ اسْمِهَا فَإِنْ كَانَ حَسَنًا رُئِيَ الْبِشْرُ فِي وَجْهِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ قَبِيحًا رُئِيَ ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ وَكَانَ إِذَا بَعَثَ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ عَنِ اسْمِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ حَسَنَ الِاسْمِ رُئِيَ الْبِشْرُ فِي وَجْهِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ قَبِيحًا رُئِيَ ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ
Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take bad omens. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to enter a town, he would ask its name. If its name was good, happiness would be seen on his face, and if its name was not good, dislike would be seen on his (peace and blessings be upon him) face. And when he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent someone as a governor, he would ask his name. If his name was good, happiness would be seen on the face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and if his name was not good, dislike would also be seen on his face.
Hadith 7788
عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَقُلْتُ يَا أُمَّتَاهُ حَدِّثِينِي شَيْئًا سَمِعْتِيهِ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الطَّيْرُ تَجْرِي بِقَدَرٍ وَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ الْفَأْلُ الْحَسَنُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I came to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: O mother! Tell me that hadith which you heard from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A bird flies according to divine decree. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) liked to take good omens.
