Chapter on Incantation for the Evil Eye
Hadith 7750
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَسْتَرْقِيَ مِنَ الْعَيْنِ
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) in case of the evil eye.
Hadith 7751
وَعَنْهَا أَيْضًا قَالَتْ دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ صَبِيٍّ يَبْكِي فَقَالَ مَا لِصَبِيِّكُمْ هَذَا يَبْكِي فَهَلَّا اسْتَرْقَيْتُمْ لَهُ مِنَ الْعَيْنِ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered and heard the sound of a child crying. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What has happened to this child of yours, why is he crying? Why do you not perform the ruqyah (spiritual cure) for the evil eye on him?
Hadith 7752
وَعَنْهَا أَيْضًا قَالَ كُنْتُ أَرْقِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْعَيْنِ فَأَصْنَعُ يَدِي عَلَى صَدْرِهِ وَأَقُولُ امْسَحِ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ بِيَدِكَ الشِّفَاءُ لَا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I used to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) for the evil eye. I would place my hand on his blessed chest and recite this supplication: "Imsah il-ba’sa Rabb an-naas! Bi-yadika ash-shifaa’u laa kaashifa lahu illa anta." (Remove the affliction, O Lord of mankind! Healing is in Your hand; there is no healer except You.)
Hadith 7753
عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ الزُّرَقِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ بَنِي جَعْفَرٍ تُصِيبُهُمُ الْعَيْنُ أَفَأَسْتَرْقِي لَهُمْ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَلَوْ كَانَ شَيْءٌ سَابِقَ الْقَدَرِ لَسَبَقَتْهُ الْعَيْنُ
Sayyida Asma bint Umais (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that I said: O Messenger of Allah! The sons of Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) are affected by the evil eye, should I perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for them? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If anything could overcome destiny, it would be the evil eye.
