Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I was with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when a Bedouin man came and said: O Messenger of Allah! My brother is in distress. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What distress does he have? He said: He is overcome by a state of madness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bring him to me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seated him in front of him and recited Surah Al-Fatihah, the first four verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, the two verses with {وَإِلَہُکُمْ إِلٰہٌ وَاحِدٌ}, Ayat al-Kursi, the last three verses of Surah Al-Baqarah, verse {شَہِدَ اللّٰہُ أَنَّہُ لَا إِلٰہَ إِلَّا ہُوَ} of Surah Aal-e-Imran, verse {إِنَّ رَبَّکُمْ اللّٰہُ الَّذِی خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ} of Surah Al-A'raf, the end of Surah Al-Mu’minun {فَتَعَالَی اللّٰہُ الْمَلِکُ الْحَقُّ}, verse {وَأَنَّہُ تَعَالٰی جَدُّ رَبِّنَا} of Surah Al-Jinn, the first ten verses of Surah As-Saffat, the last three verses of Surah Al-Hashr, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas, and performed ruqyah (spiritual healing) with them. After this ruqyah, the man stood up as if he had never had any distress.
Hadith 7733
Kharijah bin Salat narrates from his uncle, who says: We came from the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to an Arab tribe. They said to us: We have been informed that you have returned from that man, meaning the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with goodness. So do you have any medicine or incantation? We have a patient here who has been afflicted with madness and is bound in chains. Kharijah’s uncle says: For three days, morning and evening, I would recite Surah Al-Fatihah twice, gather my saliva in my mouth, and then sprinkle it on him while reciting the incantation. He was cured as if he had been released from ropes. They gave me a hundred sheep as a reward. I said: I will not accept them until I ask the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When I asked him, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By my life! They are forbidden for the one who receives them through a false incantation. You have received them through a rightful incantation, so take them.
Hadith 7734
Syedna Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that some of the noble companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) went to an Arab tribe and asked them for hospitality, but the people of that tribe refused to host them. Meanwhile, the chief of that tribe was bitten by something poisonous. They asked those companions: "Is there anyone among you who can perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) or treat him?" They replied: "You refused to host us, so we will not perform ruqyah unless you give us some compensation." So they agreed to give a flock of sheep. The one who was to perform ruqyah began reciting Surah Al-Fatiha, gathered his saliva in his mouth, and then applied it with a puff. The man was cured. They brought the sheep, but the companions said: "We will not take these sheep until we ask the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about this." When they asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it, he smiled and said to the one who performed ruqyah: "How did you know that this Surah can be used for ruqyah? Take the sheep and allocate a share for me as well."
Hadith 7735
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a detachment. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id says: I was also among them. We came to a village and asked its inhabitants for food, but they refused to feed us. Then a man from among the villagers came to us and said: O group of Arabs! Is there anyone among you who can perform ruqyah (spiritual healing)? Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: What kind of ruqyah? He said: The chief of this village is at the brink of death. So we went with him. I recited Surah Al-Fatihah over him as ruqyah, repeating it several times. He was cured. He sent us food and sheep, which were driven to us. My companions said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has not given us any command regarding this, so we will not take anything from it until we present ourselves before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We drove the sheep until we came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When we related this matter to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: Eat, and feed us with you. How did you know that this is a ruqyah? I said: It was simply inspired into my heart.
