Hadith 7715
Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I went to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to visit him during his illness. He was suffering so severely that only Allah Almighty could know the extent of his pain. When I visited him in the latter part of the day, he had fully recovered. I said to him: I came to you in the morning, and at that time you were in such severe pain that only Allah knew how intense it was. Now I have come to you in the latter part of the day and you have recovered. What is the reason for this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O son of Samit! Jibril (peace be upon him) performed ruqyah (spiritual healing) on me. It was such a ruqyah that I became well. Shall I teach you that ruqyah? I said: Yes, of course. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me this ruqyah: “Bismillah arqeeka min kulli shay’in yu’dheeka, min hasadi kulli hasidin wa ‘aynin, bismillah yashfeeka” (In the name of Allah, I perform ruqyah on you from everything that harms you, from the envy of every envier and every evil eye, in the name of Allah who grants you healing.) In another narration: From the envy of every envier and from every evil eye, in the name of Allah I perform ruqyah on you, who grants you healing.
Hadith 7716
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would fall ill, Sayyiduna Jibreel (peace be upon him) would recite this and perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for him: "In the name of Allah, I perform ruqyah for you, may He cure you from every illness, from the evil of the envier when he envies, and from every possessor of an evil eye." (With the name of Allah, I perform ruqyah for you, may He grant you healing from every disease, from the evil of the envier when he envies, and from every possessor of an evil eye.)
Hadith 7717
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me a supplication (ruqyah) and instructed me that I may recite this ruqyah for whomever I wish. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Say:
“Our Lord is Allah, Who is in the heavens, sanctified is Your Name, Your command is in the heaven and the earth. O Allah! Just as Your command is in the heaven, so make Your mercy upon us in the earth. O Allah! Lord of the pure ones! Forgive our sins, our faults, and our mistakes, and send down a mercy from Your mercy and a healing from Your healing upon the illness that is with so-and-so.”
(That is: O our Lord Who is in the heavens, Your Name is holy, Your command prevails in the heaven and the earth. O Allah! Just as Your command is in the heaven, likewise, bestow Your mercy upon us on the earth. O Allah! Lord of the pure ones! Forgive our sins and pardon our mistakes. Send down a portion of Your mercy and a portion of Your healing upon the illness that is with so-and-so.)
Thus, he would be cured. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: This ruqyah should be recited three times, and then Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas should be recited three times each.
Hadith 7718
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would seek refuge for a sick person from illness, he would recite this supplication: "Remove the suffering, Lord of the people, grant healing, You are the Healer, there is no healing except Your healing, grant such a healing that leaves behind no illness." (O Lord of the people! Remove this distress, grant healing, You alone are the Healer, healing is only that which You grant, grant such a healing that leaves no trace of illness.)
Hadith 7719
Abdur Rahman bin Sa’ib, who was the nephew of Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to him: O nephew! Shall I perform the prophetic incantation (ruqyah) for you as done by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes, please do. She performed the incantation in this way: “In the name of Allah, I perform ruqyah for you, and Allah will cure you from every illness within you. Remove the suffering, Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer; there is no healer except You.”
Hadith 7720
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for some of his family members with this supplication, and at the same time he would pass his right hand over them: "Remove the suffering, Lord of the people, and grant healing, for surely You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves behind no illness." (O Lord of the people! Remove the hardship and grant healing, surely You are the only Healer, there is no healing except Your healing, grant such a healing that leaves no disease behind.)
Hadith 7721
. (Second chain) The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ruqyah and recite this supplication: IMSAHIL BAASA RABBAN NAAS BIYADIKA ASH-SHIFAA'U LAA YAKSHIFUL-KARBA ILLA ANTA (O Lord of the people! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I recite for you the ruqyah (spiritual healing) that Jibreel (peace be upon him) recited for me? I said: May my parents be sacrificed for you, why not, please do so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this supplication: "In the name of Allah, I perform ruqyah for you. May Allah cure you from every illness that harms you, and from the evil of those who blow on knots, and from the evil of the envier when he envies." (With the name of Allah, I perform ruqyah for you. May Allah grant you healing from every disease that troubles you and that is within you, and I seek protection for you from the evil of those who blow on knots (practicing witchcraft), and from the evil of the envier when he envies.)

Abdul Aziz says: We went with Sayyiduna Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) to Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I am ill. In response, Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Shall I not perform the ruqyah (spiritual healing) for you that Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do? He said: Yes, please do. He said: Then recite this supplication: "O Allah! Lord of mankind! Remover of affliction! Grant healing, for You are the Healer. There is no healer except You. Grant such a healing that leaves behind no illness."
Hadith 7726
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Hatib Jumahi (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: My mother, Sayyida Umm Jameel bint Mujallal (may Allah be pleased with her), says: I took you to the land of Habsha, and was returning. When only two nights' journey was left to reach Madinah, I cooked food for you. When the fuel ran out, I went out in search of it. Meanwhile, you grabbed the pot, which overturned and fell on your arm, burning your arm. I brought you to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you! This is Muhammad bin Hatib, his arm is injured. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his blessed saliva in your mouth, passed his hand over your head, prayed for you, and sprinkled his blessed saliva on your hands and said: "Remove the pain, O Lord of the people, and grant healing, You are the Healer, there is no healing except Your healing, grant such a healing that leaves behind no illness." My mother says: I had not yet stood up with you from his presence when your hand had become completely fine.
Hadith 7727
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Hatib, he says: Something from the pot fell on my arm, so my mother took me to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this supplication and blew over me: "Remove the pain, Lord of the people, grant healing, You are the Healer." Along with this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sprinkle a little saliva on the burnt hand.
Hadith 7728
(Third chain) There is a similar hadith, except that in it: Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Hatib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: My mother took me to a man in the valley of Batha, which is a valley in Mecca. That man recited something and blew lightly to perform ruqyah. When it was the caliphate of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), I asked my mother who that man was (who had performed ruqyah on me)? She said: That was the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 7729
Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abu al-As narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me; I was in such severe pain that it was near to destroying me. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Place your right hand on the place of pain and pass it over seven times, and each time recite this supplication: "A‘udhu bi ‘izzatillahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu" (I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil of what I find). I performed this incantation as instructed, and Allah Almighty removed the pain I was suffering from. After that, I continued to teach this method of incantation to my family and other people.
Hadith 7730
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek Allah’s protection for Sayyiduna Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) with these words: “I seek protection for you both in the perfect words of Allah from every devil, every poisonous creature, and from every harmful evil eye.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also used to say that Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) used to seek Allah’s protection for his sons, Sayyiduna Ismail (peace be upon him) and Sayyiduna Ishaq (peace be upon him), with these very words.
Hadith 7731
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any of you is afflicted with pain, he should place his hand where it hurts and recite this supplication seven times: "A'udhu bi 'izzatillahi wa qudratihi 'ala kulli shay'in min sharri ma ajidu." (I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil of what I find.)
