Hadith 7703
عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الرُّقْيَةِ مِنَ الْعَيْنِ وَالْحُمَةِ وَالنَّمْلَةِ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted ruqyah (spiritual healing) for the evil eye, poisonous stings, and boils or abscesses.
Hadith 7704
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ خَالِي يَرْقِي مِنَ الْعَقْرَبِ فَلَمَّا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الرُّقَى أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ نَهَيْتَ عَنِ الرُّقَى وَإِنِّي أَرْقِي مِنَ الْعَقْرَبِ فَقَالَ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ أَخَاهُ فَلْيَفْعَلْ
Syedna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that my maternal uncle used to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for scorpion stings. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade ruqyah, he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! You have forbidden ruqyah, but I perform ruqyah for scorpion stings. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among you can benefit his brother, let him do so.
Hadith 7705
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا مَا شَأْنُ أَجْسَامِ بَنِي أَخِي ضَارِعَةً أَتُصِيبُهُمْ حَاجَةٌ قَالَتْ لَا وَلَكِنْ تُسْرِعُ إِلَيْهِمُ الْعَيْنُ أَفَنَرْقِيهِمْ قَالَ وَبِمَاذَا فَعَرَضَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ ارْقِيهِمْ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyida Asma bint Umais (may Allah be pleased with her): "What has happened to the bodies of my brother's (Sayyiduna Ja'far, may Allah be pleased with him) children? They are weak. Are they suffering from hunger?" I said: "No, they are very quickly affected by the evil eye. Should we perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "With which words?" When she presented her words, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform ruqyah for them."
Hadith 7706
وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولُ لَدَغَتْ رَجُلًا مِنَّا عَقْرَبٌ وَنَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرْقِيهِ فَقَالَ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ أَخَاهُ فَلْيَنْفَعْهُ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that one of us was stung by a scorpion while we were sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). A man said: O Messenger of Allah! Should I perform ruqyah (incantation) on him? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Let whoever can benefit his brother in any way, do so.
Hadith 7707
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ حَزْمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ دُعِيَ لِامْرَأَةٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ لَدَغَتْهَا حَيَّةٌ لِيَرْقِيَهَا فَأَبَى فَأُخْبِرَ بِذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَعَاهُ فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ تَزْجُرُ عَنِ الرُّقَى فَقَالَ اقْرَأْهَا عَلَيَّ فَقَرَأَهَا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا بَأْسَ إِنَّمَا هِيَ مَوَاثِيقُ فَارْقِ بِهَا
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Amr bin Hazm (may Allah be pleased with him) was called in Madinah to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for a woman who had been bitten by a snake, but he refused to perform ruqyah. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of this, he called him and he said: O Messenger of Allah! You have prohibited ruqyah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite the words of this ruqyah before me. So when he recited those words, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no harm in them, these are firm things, perform ruqyah with them.
Hadith 7708
عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ مَرَرْنَا بِسَيْلٍ فَدَخَلْتُ فَاغْتَسَلْتُ مِنْهُ فَخَرَجْتُ مَحْمُومًا فَنُمِيَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مُرُوا أَبَا ثَابِتٍ يَتَعَوَّذُ قُلْتُ يَا سَيِّدِي وَالرُّقَى صَالِحَةٌ قَالَ لَا رُقْيَةَ إِلَّا فِي نَفْسٍ أَوْ حُمَةٍ أَوْ لَدْغَةٍ قَالَ عَفَّانُ النَّظْرَةُ وَاللَّدْغَةُ وَالْحُمَةُ
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunaif (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we passed by a water pond, I entered it and bathed with that water. When I came out, I was feverish. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to know of this, he said: Tell Abu Thabit Sahl bin Hunaif to seek refuge with Allah Almighty. I said: O my master! Is it permissible to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ruqyah should only be done when afflicted by the evil eye or bitten by a poisonous thing.
Hadith 7709
عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ مَوْلَى أَبِي اللَّحْمِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ وَعَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِ رُقْيَةً كُنْتُ أَرْقِي بِهَا الْمَجَانِينَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَالَ اطْرَحْ مِنْهَا كَذَا وَكَذَا وَارْقِ بِمَا بَقِيَ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَأَدْرَكْتُهُ وَهُوَ يَرْقِي بِهَا الْمَجَانِينَ
Sayyiduna Umair, the freed slave of Abi Al-Lahm, says: I presented to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a ruqyah (incantation) which I used to recite during the days of ignorance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Remove such-and-such phrases and sentences from it, and then whatever words remain, perform ruqyah with them. Muhammad bin Zaid says: I found him in such a state that he used to perform ruqyah on mad people with this ruqyah.
Hadith 7710
عَنْ طَلْقِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَدَغَنِي عَقْرَبٌ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَقَانِي وَمَسَحَهَا
Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a scorpion stung me in the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ruqyah (spiritual healing) on me and passed his hand over me.
Hadith 7711
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَخَّصَ لِأَهْلِ بَيْتٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي الرُّقْيَةِ وَفِي لَفْظٍ رَخَّصَ فِي الرُّقْيَةِ مِنْ كُلِّ ذِي حُمَةٍ
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted a household of the Ansar to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) for a poisonous sting.
Hadith 7712
عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا رُقْيَةَ إِلَّا مِنْ عَيْنٍ أَوْ حُمَةٍ
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ruqyah is only for the evil eye and for the sting of a poisonous creature.
