Hadith 7656
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنْ كَانَ أَوْ إِنْ يَكُنْ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَدْوِيَتِكُمْ خَيْرٌ فَفِي شَرْطَةِ مِحْجَمٍ أَوْ شَرْبَةِ عَسَلٍ أَوْ لَذْعَةٍ بِنَارٍ تُوَافِقُ دَاءً وَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَكْتَوِيَ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If there is any good in your methods of treatment, then it is in cupping, or in drinking honey, or in cauterization with fire that is suitable for the illness; however, I do not like cauterization.
Hadith 7657
عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثٌ إِنْ كَانَ فِي شَيْءٍ شِفَاءٌ فَفِي شَرْطَةِ مِحْجَمٍ أَوْ شَرْبَةِ عَسَلٍ أَوْ كَيَّةٍ تُصِيبُ أَلَمًا وَأَنَا أَكْرَهُ الْكَيَّ وَلَا أُحِبُّهُ
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: There are three things in which there is healing, if there is healing in anything (then it is in these three): in cupping, in drinking honey, or in cauterization which is appropriate for the treatment of pain, and I dislike cauterization.
Hadith 7658
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ الشِّفَاءُ فِي ثَلَاثَةٍ شَرْبَةِ عَسَلٍ وَشَرْطَةِ مِحْجَمٍ وَكَيَّةِ نَارٍ وَأَنْهَى أُمَّتِي عَنِ الْكَيِّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), he says: There is healing in three things: drinking honey, cupping, and cauterization with fire, but I forbid my Ummah from cauterization.
Hadith 7659
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَجُلٍ نَسْتَأْذِنُهُ أَنْ نَكْوِيَهُ فَسَكَتَ ثُمَّ سَأَلْنَاهُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَسَكَتَ ثُمَّ سَأَلْنَاهُ الثَّالِثَةَ فَقَالَ ارْضِفُوهُ إِنْ شِئْتُمْ كَأَنَّهُ غَضْبَانُ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we went to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to visit him due to his foot ailment. We sought permission from him to apply cauterization. In response, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. We asked again, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. When we asked for the third time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If you wish, then apply a hot stone. It was as if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was angry.
Hadith 7660
عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَوَانِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِنَا فَمَا نُهِيتُ عَنْهُ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) cauterized me as a treatment, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was present among us, and I was not prohibited from this.
Hadith 7661
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ رُمِيَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ بِسَهْمٍ فَأَصَابَ أَكْحَلَهُ فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكُوِيَ عَلَى أَكْحَلِهِ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that on the day of Uhud, Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) was struck by an arrow on the vein of his arm. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that his arm be cauterized.
Hadith 7662
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ طَبِيبًا فَقَطَعَ لَهُ عِرْقًا ثُمَّ كَوَاهُ عَلَيْهِ وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ فَكَوَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ
. (Second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent a healer to Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with him, who cut his vein and cauterized it. In one narration, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cauterized it with his own hand.
Hadith 7663
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ رُمِيَ سَعْدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي أَكْحَلِهِ فَحَسَمَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ بِمِشْقَصٍ ثُمَّ وَرِمَتْ فَحَسَمَهُ الثَّانِيَةَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) was struck by an arrow in the vein of his arm. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cauterized him with the tip of the arrow using his blessed hand, and when swelling appeared on it, he cauterized him a second time.
Hadith 7664
عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالَ كَوَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَعْدًا أَوْ أَسْعَدَ بْنَ زُرَارَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي حَلْقِهِ مِنَ الذُّبْحَةِ وَقَالَ لَا أَدَعُ فِي نَفْسِي حَرَجًا مِنْ سَعْدٍ أَوْ أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ
It is narrated from a Companion that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) cauterized Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) or Sayyiduna As’ad bin Zurarah (may Allah be pleased with him) due to a throat illness and said: I do not want to leave any discomfort in my heart regarding Sa’d or As’ad bin Zurarah.
Hadith 7665
عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَوَاهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cauterized him.
Hadith 7666
عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ أَبَا أُمَامَةَ بْنَ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ أَحَدَ النُّقَبَاءِ يَوْمَ الْعَقَبَةِ أَنَّهُ أَخَذَتْهُ الشَّوْكَةُ فَجَاءَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعُودُهُ فَقَالَ بِئْسَ الْمَيِّتُ لَيَهُودُ مَرَّتَيْنِ سَيَقُولُونَ لَوْلَا دَفَعَ عَنْ صَاحِبِهِ وَلَا أَمْلِكُ لَهُ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا وَلَأَتَمَحَّلَنَّ لَهُ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ وَكُوِيَ بِخَطَّيْنِ فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ فَمَاتَ
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna As‘ad bin Zurarah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the leaders on the Day of ‘Aqabah, reported that redness appeared on his face and body. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The corpse of the Jews is very bad." He said this twice. "Soon these Jews will say that this Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) could not remove the suffering from his companion. But listen, I do not possess the power to harm or benefit him. However, I will certainly try my utmost to remove this suffering." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered, and two lines were cauterized on his head, but he was not cured and passed away.
Hadith 7667
عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْكَيِّ فَاكْتَوَيْنَا فَمَا أَفْلَحْنَا وَلَا أَنْجَحْنَا
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from cauterization, but we underwent cauterization; thus, we neither succeeded nor attained salvation.
Hadith 7668
عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنِ اكْتَوَى أَوِ اسْتَرْقَى فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ التَّوَكُّلِ
Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever gets cauterized or has ruqyah done has absolved himself of reliance (tawakkul).
