Hadith 7645
عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ قَالَ سُئِلَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ كَسْبِ الْحَجَّامِ قَالَ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَجَمَهُ أَبُو طَيْبَةَ فَأَمَرَ لَهُ بِصَاعٍ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ وَكَلَّمَ مَوَالِيَهُ أَنْ يُخَفِّفُوا عَنْهُ مِنْ ضَرِيبَتِهِ وَقَالَ أَمْثَلُ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ وَالْقُسْطُ الْبَحْرِيُّ
Humaid says: It was asked from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) about the earnings from cupping. He said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had cupping done, and Sayyiduna Abu Taybah (may Allah be pleased with him) performed cupping for him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be given one sa’ of barley, and he asked his masters to reduce the amount of earnings they had fixed for him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best treatment you use is cupping and the use of Qust al-Bahri.
Hadith 7646
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْأَخْدَعَيْنِ وَبَيْنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had cupping done on the veins on both sides of the neck and between the ankles.
Hadith 7647
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ خَيْرُ يَوْمٍ تَحْتَجِمُونَ فِيهِ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَتِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَإِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ وَقَالَ وَمَا مَرَرْتُ بِمَلَأٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ لَيْلَةً أُسْرِيَ بِي إِلَّا قَالُوا عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْحِجَامَةِ يَا مُحَمَّدُ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The dates of the seventeenth, nineteenth, and twenty-first of the month are extremely suitable and best for cupping, and he said: On the night of Mi'raj, when I was taken up, every group of angels that I passed by said the same thing: O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! Adhere to cupping.
Hadith 7648
عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ خَيْرُ مَا تَدَاوَيْتُمْ بِهِ الْحِجَامَةُ وَالْقُسْطُ الْبَحْرِيُّ وَلَا تُعَذِّبُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ بِالْغَمْزِ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the things you use for treatment, the best means of cure is what you do by cupping and using Indian aloeswood, and do not cause pain to your children by putting your finger in their throats.
Hadith 7649
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ احْتَجَمَ عَلَى الْأَخْدَعَيْنِ وَعَلَى الْكَاهِلِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had cupping done on the veins on both sides of the neck and on the area between the shoulders, that is, the upper part of the back.
Hadith 7650
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْتَجِمُ ثَلَاثًا وَاحِدَةً عَلَى كَاهِلِهِ وَاثْنَتَيْنِ عَلَى الْأَخْدَعَيْنِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have cupping done at three places: between the shoulders and on the two prominent veins on the sides of the neck.
Hadith 7651
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنْ كَانَ فِي شَيْءٍ مِمَّا تَدَاوَوْنَ بِهِ خَيْرٌ فَفِي الْحِجَامَةِ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the treatments you use, the best method of treatment is cupping.
Hadith 7652
عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَعَا الْحَجَّامَ فَأَتَاهُ بِقُرُونٍ فَأَلْزَمَهُ إِيَّاهَا قَالَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً بِقَرْنٍ ثُمَّ شَرَطَهُ بِشَفْرَةٍ فَدَخَلَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ مِنْ بَنِي فَزَارَةَ أَحَدِ بَنِي جَذِيمَةَ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ يَحْتَجِمُ وَلَا عَهْدَ لَهُ بِالْحِجَامَةِ وَلَا يَعْرِفُهَا قَالَ مَا هَذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَلَامَ تَدَعُ هَذَا يَقْطَعُ جِلْدَكَ قَالَ هَذَا الْحَجْمُ قَالَ وَمَا الْحَجْمُ قَالَ هَذَا مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا تَدَاوَى بِهِ النَّاسُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he called for the cupper. The cupper came with his cupping instrument and attached it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and began to make incisions on his blessed body with a blade. Meanwhile, a Bedouin from the branch of Banu Farazah of Banu Jadhimah came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) having cupping done, he said: O Messenger of Allah! Why have you allowed him to cut your skin? In fact, he did not know what cupping was, nor had he ever seen it being done. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This is cupping. He asked: What is cupping? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the treatments people use, cupping is one of the best treatments.
Hadith 7653
عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَادَ الْمُقَنَّعَ فَقَالَ لَا أَبْرَحُ حَتَّى تَحْتَجِمَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ فِيهِ الشِّفَاءَ
Syedna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) visited Muqni’ to look after him and said to him: I will not leave until you get cupping done, because the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that there is healing in cupping.
Hadith 7654
عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ حَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ سَلْمَى خَادِمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ مَا سَمِعْتُ أَحَدًا قَطُّ يَشْكُو إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَعًا فِي رَأْسِهِ إِلَّا قَالَ احْتَجِمْ وَلَا وَجَعًا فِي رِجْلَيْهِ إِلَّا قَالَ اخْضِبْهُمَا بِالْحِنَّاءِ
Sayyida Salma (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the servant of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates that whoever complained of a headache in the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) told them to apply cupping. And whoever complained of pain in the feet, he (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed them to apply a henna paste.
Hadith 7655
عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا اسْتَأْذَنَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْحِجَامَةِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبَا طَيْبَةَ أَنْ يَحْجُمَهَا قَالَ حَسِبْتُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ أَخَاهَا مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ أَوْ غُلَامًا لَمْ يَحْتَلِمْ
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) sought permission from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to have cupping done. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Abu Taybah to perform cupping for her. This Abu Taybah was either the foster brother of Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) or he was still a minor child.
