Hadith 7609
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi’ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, O Messenger of Allah! Tomorrow we are going to face the enemy, if we do not have a knife to slaughter the animal, what should we do? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever causes blood to flow and Allah’s name is mentioned over it, eat it, except for teeth and nails. I will tell you the reason for teeth and nails: the tooth is a bone and the nail is the knife of the Abyssinians. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) received some spoils of war, among which a camel ran away. People tried hard to stop it, but they could not overpower it. A man shot an arrow at it, and it stopped. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Some camels run wild like wild animals, if such an animal overpowers you, do the same with it. On that day, while distributing the spoils of war, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) counted ten goats in exchange for one camel.
