Hadith 7581
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about hunting with a dog. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you send your trained dog and recite Bismillah, and the dog catches the prey, if you find it while it is still alive, then slaughter it. And if the dog has killed the prey, then also you may eat it. But if the dog has eaten from the prey itself, then do not eat it, because in that case it means the dog has kept it for itself.
Hadith 7582
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you release your dog for hunting and it eats from the catch, then do not eat that game, because it means the dog has kept it for itself. And when you release your dog and it does not eat from it, then eat it, because it has kept the game for its owner.
