7 hadith
Hadith 7482
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that we used to prepare nabidh for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a waterskin. We would put a handful of dried grapes or dates into the waterskin and pour water over them. If we prepared it at night, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would drink it in the morning, and if we prepared it during the day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would drink it at night.
Hadith 7483
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: We used to prepare nabidh (a drink made from dates or raisins soaked in water) in a waterskin for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the morning. We would not cover it, nor would we leave any sediment in it. When evening came and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had eaten his evening meal, he would then drink the nabidh. If any nabidh was left over, I would pour it out and wash the waterskin. Then we would prepare nabidh at the time of Isha. When morning came and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had eaten his morning meal, he would drink the nabidh. If any nabidh was left over, I would pour it out, and then the vessel would be washed. Maqatil was asked: Is there mention of washing the waterskin twice in this hadith? He replied: Yes, there is mention of washing it twice.
Hadith 7484
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that water mixed with dried dates was prepared for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He would drink it on that day, the next day, and until the evening of the third day. After that, he would order that it be given to someone else to drink or that it be poured away.
Hadith 7485
Ikrimah narrates that a man asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the Nabidh of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: The Nabidh that was prepared at night, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would drink it during the day, and the one that was prepared during the day, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would drink it at night.
Hadith 7486
Ibrahim bin Sa’d says: I went to Sufyan and I asked him, or he was asked about nabidh. He said: Eat dates and then drink water afterwards; nabidh will be formed in your stomach.
Hadith 7487
Suhayrah bint Jaifar says: We performed Hajj, then we returned to Madinah and came to Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her). We found women from Kufa present with her. They said to us: If you wish, you may ask questions and we will listen, or if you wish, we will ask questions and you listen. We said: You ask questions. They inquired about matters related to husband and wife and menstruation, and then they asked about nabidh (a drink) made in pitchers (and jars, etc.). Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O people of Iraq! You have asked repeatedly about nabidh made in pitchers. There is no harm for you in cooking dates, then crushing them by hand, straining them, and putting them in a waterskin, then tying its strap. When it becomes pleasant, drink it and give it to your husband to drink as well.
Hadith 7488
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Firoz Dailami (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! We are owners of grapes, now the prohibition of wine has been revealed, so what should we do with the grapes? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Make raisins from them. He said: Then what should we do with the raisins? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Soak them in water in the morning and drink it with the evening meal, and soak them in water in the evening and drink it in the morning. I said: You know which people we are from, among them only we have believed, our people have not believed, and you know that we live among a disbelieving people, so who is our guardian? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty and His Messenger. I said: O Messenger of Allah! That is sufficient for me.
