Hadith 7453
عَنْ أَبِي زِيَادٍ الطَّحَّانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَشْرَبُ قَائِمًا فَقَالَ لَهُ قِهْ قَالَ لِمَهْ قَالَ أَيَسُرُّكَ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ مَعَكَ الْهِرُّ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ شَرِبَ مَعَكَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مِنْهُ الشَّيْطَانُ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man drinking water while standing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Vomit it out." He asked: "Why?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do you like that a cat drinks water with you?" He replied: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then someone has drunk water with you who is worse than that cat, and that is Satan."
Hadith 7454
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الَّذِي يَشْرَبُ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ مَا فِي بَطْنِهِ لَاسْتَقَاءَهُ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever drinks water while standing, if he knew what had entered his stomach, he would vomit.
Hadith 7455
عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا قَالَ فَقُلْنَا لِأَنَسٍ فَالطَّعَامُ قَالَ ذَلِكَ أَشَدُّ وَأَنْتَنُ قَالَ ابْنُ بَكْرٍ أَوْ أَخْبَثُ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a person from drinking water while standing. People said: We asked Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): Can we eat while standing? He replied: Eating while standing is even worse and more foul than this. According to Ibn Bakr, this act is even more wicked.
Hadith 7456
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ زَجَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَشْرَبَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a person from drinking water while standing.
Hadith 7457
عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَشْرَبُ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ قَالَ جَابِرٌ كُنَّا نَكْرَهُ ذَلِكَ
Sayyiduna Abu Zubair says: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the person who drinks water while standing, is this permissible? He said: We used to dislike it.
Hadith 7458
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَشْهَدُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَجَرَ عَنْ ذَاكَ وَزَجَرَ أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ لِبَوْلٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) testifying that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) forbade drinking water while standing, and also forbade us from facing the Qiblah while urinating.
