It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking water while standing. I asked: And eating? He said: That matter would be even more severe.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was given a gift of dates. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to distribute them with the help of a basket, and I was acting as an intermediary. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished distributing, he ate some dates, while he was sitting with his shins raised and his back resting on the ground, and he was eating the dates quickly. I sensed that he was hungry.
