بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْخَيْلِ وَحِمَارِ الْوَحْشِ
Chapter: What Has Been Reported Regarding Horses and Wild Donkeys
Hadith 7285
Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ ذَبَحْنَا يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ الْخَيْلَ وَالْبِغَالَ وَالْحَمِيرَ فَنَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْبِغَالِ وَالْحَمِيرِ وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا عَنِ الْخَيْلِ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that on the day of the Battle of Khaybar, we slaughtered horses, mules, and donkeys. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from (eating) mules and donkeys, but he did not prohibit eating horse meat.
Hadith 7286
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَكَلْنَا زَمَنَ خَيْبَرَ الْخَيْلَ وَحُمُرَ الْوَحْشِ وَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْحِمَارِ الْأَهْلِيِّ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Khaybar, we ate the meat of horses and wild donkeys, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from eating the meat of domestic donkeys.
Hadith 7287
عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَتْ نَحَرْنَا فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَسًا فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْهُ
Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that during the blessed era of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), we slaughtered a horse and we ate its meat.
