4 hadith
Hadith 7281
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The greatest offender among the Muslims is the person who asks about something and probes so much about it that, because of his questioning, that thing is made unlawful.
Hadith 7282
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the Muslims, the greatest sinner is the one who asks about a matter which was not forbidden, but because of his question, it was made forbidden.
Hadith 7283
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Leave me as long as I leave you, for the destruction of the people before you was caused by their excessive questioning of their prophets and their disagreements with them. So, whatever I forbid you, abstain from it, and whatever I command you, do it to the best of your ability.
Hadith 7284
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when this verse was revealed: {وَلِلّٰہِ عَلَی النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَیْتِ مَنِ اسْتطَاعَ إِلَیْہِ سَبِیْلًا} (Surah Aal-e-Imran: 97), meaning: Whoever has the ability to reach the House of Allah, Hajj to the House of Allah is obligatory upon him. The companions submitted: O Messenger of Allah! Is Hajj obligatory every year? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. They asked again: Is it obligatory every year? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. They asked a third time: Is this act of worship obligatory every year? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, and if I had said yes, then Hajj would have become obligatory upon you every year. Then Allah Almighty revealed this verse: {یَا أَیُّہَا الَّذِیْنَ آمَنُوْا لَا تَسْأَلُوْا عَنْ أَشْیَائَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَکُمْ تَسُؤْکُمْ} (Surah Al-Ma'idah: 101), meaning: O you who believe! Do not ask about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble.
