16 hadith
Hadith 7101
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the husband is present, his wife should not observe a voluntary fast without his permission, and in the presence of the husband, she should not allow anyone to enter the house without his permission. And whatever a woman spends from her husband's earnings without his order, she will receive half the reward for it.

It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When a man calls his wife to bed and she refuses, and he spends the night angry with her, then the angels curse such a woman until morning.

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting among a group of Muhajirin and Ansar, when a camel came and prostrated before him. Seeing this scene, the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: O Messenger of Allah! If animals and trees prostrate to you, then we are more deserving to prostrate to you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Worship your Lord and honor your brother, meaning your Prophet. If I were to command any human to prostrate before another human, I would command the wife to prostrate to her husband. The husband's right over the wife is such that if he orders her to transfer stones from the yellow mountain to the black mountain and from the black mountain to the white mountain, then it would be appropriate for her to do so.

If it were appropriate for a human to prostrate to another human, I would have commanded a woman to prostrate to her husband, because of the great right he has over her. By the One in Whose hand is my soul! If the husband were to have a sore from his feet to the parting of his hair, and pus and blood were to flow from it, and his wife were to come and lick it, even then she would not have fulfilled his right.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) went to Yemen or Syria and saw that the Christians prostrate to their leaders and priests. He thought in his heart that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is more deserving of such respect. Then when he returned, he said: O Messenger of Allah! I saw the Christians prostrating to their priests and leaders, and it occurred to me in my heart that you are more deserving of this respect. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I were to command anyone to prostrate to anyone other than Allah Almighty, I would have commanded a woman to prostrate to her husband. A wife cannot fulfill the rights of Allah Almighty until she fulfills the rights of her husband as they ought to be fulfilled. If the husband calls his wife for marital relations and she is sitting on a saddle (of a riding animal), she must respond to her husband's request.

It is narrated from ‘Aidh bin ‘Abdullah that Sayyiduna Mu‘adh (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Yemen. He met a woman from the Khaulān tribe, and with her were her twelve sons. She had left their father at home. The youngest of her sons was fully bearded. She stood up, and two of her sons were supporting her. She greeted Sayyiduna Mu‘adh (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: “O man! Who sent you here?” Sayyiduna Mu‘adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me here.” She said: “Did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) really send you? Well, if you are the messenger of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), why don’t you tell me something?” Sayyiduna Mu‘adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Ask whatever you need.” She said: “Tell me, what is a man’s right over his wife?” He told her: “Fear Allah as much as you are able, listen and obey.” She said: “I ask you by Allah, tell me, what is a man’s right over his wife?” He said: “Are you not satisfied that you listen to your husband, obey him, and fear Allah?” She said: “Yes, I am certainly satisfied, but still, tell me, what is a man’s right over his wife? Because I have left their father at home, and he has become very old.” Sayyiduna Mu‘adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “By Him in Whose Hands is the soul of Mu‘adh! Suppose when you return to him, you find him in such a state that leprosy has eaten away his flesh, and both his nostrils have burst, and pus and blood are flowing from his nostrils, and you put both his nostrils in your mouth so that you may fulfill his right, even then you would not have fulfilled his right.”

Hadith 7115
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: When the husband becomes the owner of a woman's chastity, then it is not permissible for the woman to dispose of her wealth without his permission.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the wife of Sayyiduna Safwan bin Mu'attal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! The situation with my husband, Sayyiduna Safwan bin Mu'attal (may Allah be pleased with him), is that when I pray, he beats me; when I fast, he makes me break my fast; and he performs the Fajr prayer after sunrise. At that time, Sayyiduna Safwan was also present there. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him about his wife's complaints, he said: O Messenger of Allah! As for her saying that I beat her when she prays, the matter is that she recites two long surahs, whereas I have forbidden her from that. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if one surah is recited, it is sufficient for the people. She then said: As for her saying that I make her break her fast when she is fasting, the reason is that I am a young man and I cannot control myself. Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that day: No woman should ever observe (optional) fast without her husband's permission. And as for her saying that I perform the Fajr prayer after sunrise, the explanation is that we are people of this tribe who cannot wake up before the sun rises. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever you wake up, perform the prayer at that time. In another narration: Sayyiduna Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Indeed, my head remains heavy, and our whole family is such that it is well known about us that our heads remain heavy. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever you wake up, perform the prayer at that time.
