Chapter: Prohibition for Spouses to Speak About What Happens During Intercourse
Hadith 7091
عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الطُّفَاوَةِ قَالَ نَزَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ وَلَمْ أُدْرِكْ مِنْ صَحَابَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا أَشَدَّ تَشْمِيرًا وَلَا أَقْوَمَ عَلَى ضَيْفٍ مِنْهُ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا عِنْدَهُ وَهُوَ عَلَى سَرِيرٍ لَهُ وَأَسْفَلَ مِنْهُ جَارِيَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ وَمَعَهُ كِيسٌ فِيهِ حَصًى أَوْ نَوًى يَقُولُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَنْفَذَ مَا فِي الْكِيسِ أَلْقَاهُ إِلَيْهَا فَجَمَعَتْهُ فَجَعَلَتْهُ فِي الْكِيسِ ثُمَّ دَفَعَتْهُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لِي أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ عَنِّي وَعَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ فَإِنِّي بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أُوعَكُ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْمَدِينَةِ إِذْ دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَقَالَ مَنْ أَحَسَّ الْفَتَى الدَّوْسِيَّ مَنْ أَحَسَّ الْفَتَى الدَّوْسِيَّ فَقَالَ لَهُ قَائِلٌ هُوَ ذَاكَ يُوعَكُ فِي جَانِبِ الْمَسْجِدِ حَيْثُ تَرَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَجَاءَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَيَّ وَقَالَ لِي مَعْرُوفًا فَقُمْتُ فَانْطَلَقَ حَتَّى قَامَ فِي مَقَامِهِ الَّذِي يُصَلِّي فِيهِ وَمَعَهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ صَفَّانِ مِنْ رِجَالٍ وَصَفٌّ مِنْ نِسَاءٍ أَوْ صَفَّانِ مِنْ نِسَاءٍ وَصَفٌّ مِنْ رِجَالٍ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ إِنْ أَنْسَانِي الشَّيْطَانُ شَيْئًا مِنْ صَلَاتِي فَلْيُسَبِّحِ الْقَوْمُ وَلْتُصَفِّقِ النِّسَاءُ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يَنْسَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ شَيْئًا فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ مَجَالِسَكُمْ هَلْ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ إِذَا أَتَى أَهْلَهُ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ وَأَرْخَى سِتْرَهُ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ فَيَتَحَدَّثُ فَيَقُولُ فَعَلْتُ بِأَهْلِي كَذَا وَفَعَلْتُ بِأَهْلِي كَذَا فَسَكَتُوا فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ فَقَالَ هَلْ مِنْكُنَّ مَنْ تُحَدِّثُ فَجَثَتْ فَتَاةٌ كَعَابٌ عَلَى إِحْدَى رُكْبَتَيْهَا وَتَطَاوَلَتْ لِيَرَاهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَيَسْمَعَ كَلَامَهَا فَقَالَتْ إِي وَاللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَيُحَدِّثُونَ وَإِنَّهُنَّ لَيُحَدِّثْنَ فَقَالَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا مَثَلُ مَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ إِنَّ مَثَلَ مَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ مَثَلُ شَيْطَانٍ وَشَيْطَانَةٍ لَقِيَ أَحَدُهُمَا صَاحِبَهُ بِالسِّكَّةِ قَضَى حَاجَتَهُ مِنْهَا وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَلَا لَا يُفْضِيَنَّ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَجُلٍ وَلَا امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى امْرَأَةٍ إِلَّا إِلَى وَلَدٍ أَوْ وَالِدٍ قَالَ وَذَكَرَ ثَالِثَةً فَنَسِيتُهَا أَلَا إِنَّ طِيبَ الرَّجُلِ مَا وُجِدَ رِيحُهُ وَلَمْ يَظْهَرْ لَوْنُهُ أَلَا إِنَّ طِيبَ النِّسَاءِ مَا ظَهَرَ لَوْنُهُ وَلَمْ يُوجَدْ رِيحُهُ
It is narrated from a man of Banu Tufawah, who says: I stayed as a guest with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). Among the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I did not find anyone more serving than him, nor anyone who took better care of his guest than him. Once, I was sitting with him on a cot, and a black slave girl was sitting below. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) had a pouch in which there were pebbles or date stones. He was saying "Subhan Allah, Subhan Allah" until whatever was in the pouch was finished. Then he threw the pouch towards the slave girl; she gathered the pebbles in the pouch and handed it back to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Shall I not tell you an incident between me and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? I said: Why not, please do tell. He said: I was lying in the mosque of Madinah, suffering from severe fever. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me in the mosque and asked: Has anyone seen the youth from Daws? Has anyone seen the youth from Daws? A man said: O Messenger of Allah! He is lying in a corner of the mosque, as you can see, suffering from fever. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, placed his blessed hand upon me, and spoke to me kindly. I stood up and he walked on, until he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood at his place where he used to lead the prayer. That day, there were two rows of men and one row of women with him, or two rows of women and one row of men. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) faced them and said: If Satan causes me to forget something in my prayer, the men should say "Subhan Allah" and the women should clap their hands.
The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer and did not forget. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer with salam, he turned to the people and said: Remain seated in your places. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Has it ever happened that one of you goes to his wife, closes the door, hangs the curtain, then comes out and starts telling people that he did this and that with his wife, and that he did such and such act with her? The people remained silent. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to the women and said: Is there anyone among you who does such things? A young girl with prominent breasts stood up on one knee and stretched herself so that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) could see her and hear her words, and she said: Yes, by Allah! Men also talk like this and women also talk like this.
Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know what the example of one who does this is? His example is like that of a devil and a she-devil who meet each other in a street and fulfill their need there while people are watching them. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No man should lie with another man, and no woman with another woman in such a way that there is no veil between them, except for parents and children. I have forgotten the third thing mentioned by the narrator. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware! The fragrance for men is that which has a scent but its color is not apparent. Beware! The fragrance for women is that whose color is apparent but its scent is not.

Hadith 7092
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشِّيَاعُ حَرَامٌ قَالَ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ يَعْنِي بِهِ الَّذِي يَفْتَخِرُ بِالْجِمَاعِ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shi'a is forbidden. Shi'a means to boast about having intercourse.
Hadith 7093
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ الْأَمَانَةِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الرَّجُلَ يُفْضِي إِلَى امْرَأَتِهِ وَتُفْضِي إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُنْشِرُ سِرَّهَا
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The greatest betrayal in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be that a man goes to his wife and a woman goes to her husband, and then he begins to disclose her secret.
Hadith 7094
عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالرِّجَالُ وَالنِّسَاءُ قُعُودٌ عِنْدَهُ فَقَالَ لَعَلَّ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ مَا يَفْعَلُ بِأَهْلِهِ وَلَعَلَّ امْرَأَةً تُخْبِرُ بِمَا فَعَلَتْ مَعَ زَوْجِهَا فَأَرَمَّ الْقَوْمُ فَقُلْتُ إِي وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّهُنَّ لَيَقُلْنَ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَفْعَلُونَ قَالَ فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ مِثْلُ الشَّيْطَانِ لَقِيَ شَيْطَانَةً فِي طَرِيقٍ فَغَشِيَهَا وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ
Narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that men and women were sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace be upon him) said: It is possible that a man tells others what he does with his wife, and similarly, a wife tells others what she does with her husband. The people remained silent. I (Asma) said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, women do this and men do this as well. He (peace be upon him) said: Do not do this. Its example is just like that of a devil who meets a she-devil on the road, and he has intercourse with her there while people are watching.
