She said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not send with her people who would sing and say like this: 'We have come to you, we have come to you, so greet us with peace, we greet you with peace,' for the Ansar are people who like such poetry."
Abu Balj says: I said to Muhammad bin Hatib Jumahi: I have married two women and no duff was played for me. He said: You have done wrong. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The distinction between halal and haram is the sound, that is, playing the duff. In another narration it is: The thing that distinguishes between halal and haram is playing the duff and making sound.
It is narrated from Sayyida Rabi’ bint Mu’awwidh (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me on the occasion of my marriage and sat here on my bed. I had two young girls with me who were playing the daff and describing the qualities of my forefathers who were martyred at Badr. In between, they also said: “And among us is a Prophet who knows what will happen tomorrow.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not say this.
