Narrated by Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while a man was sitting with me. The face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed, as if he found this matter very unpleasant. I said: O Messenger of Allah! This is my foster brother. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Consider carefully who your brothers are; fosterage is established only by hunger (i.e., breastfeeding in infancy).
Abu Musa Hilali narrates from his father that a man was on a journey, and his wife gave birth to a child, but her milk stopped. So the man began to suck her milk and then spit it out from his mouth (so that the milk would start flowing), but some of the milk went down his throat. So he came to Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked, and he said: "Your wife has become unlawful for you." Then the man went to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Suckling does not make unlawful until it grows flesh and strengthens bones."
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Suckling once or suckling twice does not make breastfeeding (radā‘at) unlawful.
