باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الْكَفَائَةِ فِي النِّكَاحِ
Chapter: What Has Been Reported Regarding Compatibility in Marriage
Hadith 6903
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((ثَلَاثَةٌ يَا عَلِيُّ! لَا تُؤَخِّرُهُنَّ، الصَّلَاةُ إِذَا آذَنَتْ، وَالْجَنَازَةُ إِذَا حَضَرَتْ، وَالْأَيِّمُ إِذَا وَجَدْتَ كُفُؤًا)).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ali! Do not delay in three matters: (1) the prayer, when its time arrives, (2) the funeral, when it is present, and (3) the marriage of a woman, when her suitable match and equal is found.
Hadith 6904
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: جَاءَتْ فَتَاةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! إِنَّ أَبِي زَوَّجَنِي ابْنَ أَخِيهِ يَرْفَعُ بِي خَسِيسَتَهُ، فَجَعَلَ الْأَمْرَ إِلَيْهَا، فَقَالَتْ: فَإِنِّي قَدْ أَجَزْتُ مَا صَنَعَ أَبِي وَلَكِنْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ تَعْلَمَ النِّسَاءُ أَنْ لَيْسَ لِلْآبَاءِ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ.
Narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a young woman came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My father married me to his nephew, and he wants to elevate his own status through my marriage. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me the choice in this matter. I said: I choose what my father has done, but my intention was that women should know that their fathers have no right in this matter over them.
Hadith 6905
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّ أَحْسَابَ أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا الَّذِينَ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَيْهِ هَذَا الْمَالُ)).
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The lineage which the people of the world choose is wealth.
Hadith 6906
عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((الْحَسَبُ: الْمَالُ، وَالْكَرَمُ: التَّقْوَى))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Lineage is wealth and nobility is piety.
Hadith 6907
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: كَانَتْ بَرِيرَةُ عِنْدَ عَبْدٍ فَعُتِقَتْ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمْرَهَا بِيَدِهَا (وَفِي لَفْظٍ) فَلَمَّا أُعْتِقَتْ خُيِّرَتْ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyida Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her) was married to a slave. When she was set free, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her authority over her own matter. In another narration, it is stated: When she was freed, she was given the choice.
