It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ali! Do not delay in three matters: (1) the prayer, when its time arrives, (2) the funeral, when it is present, and (3) the marriage of a woman, when her suitable match and equal is found.

Narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a young woman came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My father married me to his nephew, and he wants to elevate his own status through my marriage. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me the choice in this matter. I said: I choose what my father has done, but my intention was that women should know that their fathers have no right in this matter over them.
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The lineage which the people of the world choose is wealth.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Lineage is wealth and nobility is piety.
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyida Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her) was married to a slave. When she was set free, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her authority over her own matter. In another narration, it is stated: When she was freed, she was given the choice.
