Hadith 6871
Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When one of you proposes marriage to a woman, if he is able, he should look at that which causes him to marry her. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I proposed marriage to a girl from Banu Salamah, and I used to hide behind the date-palm leaves to look at her, until I saw that which caused me to marry her, then I married her.
Hadith 6872
Narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Abi Hathmah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I saw Muhammad bin Maslamah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Basra, following a woman to look at her. So I said to him: You are looking at this woman, while you are among the companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When Allah Almighty puts the thought in someone's heart to send a proposal to a woman, then there is no harm if he looks at her.
Hadith 6873
(Second chain) They say: I saw Muhammad bin Maslamah (may Allah be pleased with him) trying to look at Bathinah bint Dhahhak, the sister of Abu Jubairah, while she was on his roof, which had no covering, ... the hadith.
Hadith 6874
Narrated by Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him): He said, I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned to him about a woman that I wanted to send a marriage proposal to. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go, first look at her, for it is more likely that this will create love and harmony between you. So I went to that Ansari woman and gave her parents the marriage proposal, and also conveyed to them the saying of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It seemed as if they did not like the idea of me seeing her, but the woman heard the conversation from behind the curtain and said: If the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has ordered you to see me, then look at me; otherwise, I swear to you, as if she considered this matter very significant. So I looked at her and married her, and thus there was talk of harmony between the husband and wife.
Hadith 6875
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Humayd Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: When any one of you sends a proposal of marriage to a woman, there is no harm in looking at her, provided that he is looking only for the purpose of engagement, even if the woman is not aware of it.
Hadith 6876
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man sent a proposal to a woman. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Look at that woman, because generally there is some defect in the eyes of the Ansar women.
