Chapter: Description of the Woman Who Is Recommended to Be Proposed To
Hadith 6844
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ الدُّنْيَا كُلَّهَا مَتَاعٌ وَخَيْرُ مَتَاعِ الدُّنْيَا الْمَرْأَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The whole world is a provision, and the best asset of the world is a righteous woman.
Hadith 6845
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تُنْكَحُ النِّسَاءُ لِأَرْبَعٍ لِمَالِهَا وَجَمَالِهَا وَحَسَبِهَا وَدِينِهَا فَاظْفَرْ بِذَاتِ الدِّينِ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكَ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Women are married for four reasons: wealth, beauty, lineage, and religion. So succeed with the one who possesses religion, may your hands be dusted.
Hadith 6846
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى إِحْدَى خِصَالٍ ثَلَاثَةٍ تُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى مَالِهَا وَتُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى جَمَالِهَا وَتُنْكَحُ الْمَرْأَةُ عَلَى دِينِهَا فَخُذْ ذَاتَ الدِّينِ وَالْخُلُقِ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A woman is married for one of three qualities: a woman is married for her wealth, a woman is married for her beauty, and a woman is married for her religion. May your right hand be dust-covered, so choose the woman who possesses religion and good character.
Hadith 6847
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوُهُ
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) has also narrated a similar type of Prophetic hadith.
Hadith 6848
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ تُنْكَحُ لِدِينِهَا وَمَالِهَا وَجَمَالِهَا فَعَلَيْكَ بِذَاتِ الدِّينِ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A woman is married for her religion, her wealth, and her beauty; may your hands be dusted, so adhere to the one with religion.
Hadith 6849
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَنْكِحُوا أُمَّهَاتِ الْأَوْلَادِ فَإِنِّي أُبَاهِي بِهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Marry women who are loving and fertile, for I will boast of your great numbers before the nations on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 6850
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْبَاءَةِ وَيَنْهَى عَنِ التَّبَتُّلِ نَهْيًا شَدِيدًا وَيَقُولُ تَزَوَّجُوا الْوَدُودَ الْوَلُودَ فَإِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ بِكُمُ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, used to command marriage and strictly forbid celibacy. He, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: Marry a loving and fertile woman, for I will take pride in your great numbers before the other prophets on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 6851
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ النِّسَاءِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ الَّتِي تَسُرُّهُ إِذَا نَظَرَ وَتُطِيعُهُ إِذَا أَمَرَ وَلَا تُخَالِفُهُ فِيمَا يَكْرَهُ فِي نَفْسِهَا وَمَالِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked: "Which woman is the best?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: "She is the one who, when her husband looks at her, pleases him; and when he commands her, she obeys him; and she does not oppose him in that which he dislikes regarding herself and his wealth."
Hadith 6852
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مِنْ يُمْنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَيْسِيرُ خِطْبَتِهَا وَتَيْسِيرُ صَدَاقِهَا وَتَيْسِيرُ رَحِمِهَا
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the blessings of a woman is that her engagement is made easy, her dowry is light, and she becomes pregnant quickly.
Hadith 6853
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْسَلَ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ تَنْظُرُ إِلَى جَارِيَةٍ فَقَالَ شُمِّي عَوَارِضَهَا وَانْظُرِي إِلَى عُرْقُوبِهَا
Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyida Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) to look at a girl and said: Smell the side teeth of this girl and look at the muscle above her heel.
