Hadith 6803
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: A Jew from Banu Zuraiq named Labid bin A'sam cast magic upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), to the extent that its effect was such that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would think he had done something, while in fact he had not done it. This continued until one day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made supplication, then made supplication again and said: "Aisha! I have understood that Allah Almighty has accepted my supplication. Two men came to me, one sat by my head and the other by my feet. The one sitting by my head said to the one by my feet, or the one by my feet said to the one by my head: 'What is wrong with this man?' He replied: 'He has been affected by magic.' He asked: 'Who has done magic on him?' He replied: 'Labid bin A'sam.' He asked: 'In what?' He replied: 'In a comb, in the hair that falls out during combing, and in the cover of a male date palm's spadix.' He asked: 'Where is this (magic) now?' He replied: 'It is in the well of Arwan.' Sayyida (Aisha) says: People went towards that well. In one narration: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself went towards that well. There were date palms growing by it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned and said: 'O Aisha! Its water looked as if henna had been soaked in it, and its date palms looked like the heads of devils.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Why did you not burn (the object of magic) after taking it out?' In one narration: 'You should burn it.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'No, Allah Almighty has granted me well-being, and now I dislike to spread this evil unnecessarily among the people.' Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered and it was buried.
Hadith 6804
(Second chain) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, remained in this state for six months that he would see that he had done something, but in reality, he had not done it. Then two angels came to him; one sat by his head and the other by his feet. One of them said to the other: What is his condition? He replied: He is under a spell. He asked: Who has done magic on him? He replied: Labeed bin A'sam has. He asked: In what has it been done? He replied: In a comb and in the hair that falls out during combing, and this act is under a stone in the well of Zarwan, inside the sheath of a male date palm's spadix. Meanwhile, the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, woke up from sleep and said: O Aisha! Do you not see that Allah Almighty has accepted my supplication? Then he came to the well and ordered that the act be taken out. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: This is the well that was shown to me. By Allah! Its water looked as if henna had been soaked in it, and the tops of its date palms were like the heads of devils. Lady Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: Why did you not have it treated with ruqyah? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty has granted me well-being, and I do not want this evil to spread among the people.
Hadith 6805
(The third chain) A similar hadith is narrated, except that in it, it is mentioned: That act (of magic) is in the comb and the hair that falls out while combing, and in the sheath of the spadix of a male date-palm. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Where is it? They said: In the well of Dhi Arwan. Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! Why did you not take out that act for the people? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has cured me, and I do not want to stir up evil among the people.
Hadith 6806
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from among the Jews cast magic upon the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), due to which he (peace and blessings be upon him) remained ill for several days. Eventually, Jibreel (peace be upon him) came and said: "A man from among the Jews has cast magic upon you and for this purpose, he has tied magical knots. This act of magic is placed in such-and-such well. Send someone to bring out this act." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who brought it out and untied those knots. It was as if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had been released from a rope. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) neither mentioned this matter to that Jew nor looked towards his face, until he died.
Hadith 6807
‘Umrah narrates that Sayyidah ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) became ill and her illness prolonged. A man came to Madinah Munawwarah who practiced medicine and wisdom. The nephews of Sayyidah ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) went to this physician and inquired about the ailment of Sayyidah ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her). He said: By Allah! From what you are describing, it appears that this woman has been afflicted by magic, and her slave-girl has performed magic on her. When the slave-girl was questioned, she said: Yes! I did perform magic. I wanted you to die quickly so that I would become free. In fact, that slave-girl was a mudabbirah (a slave promised freedom after the master’s death). Sayyidah ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Sell her to the person who is the strictest in Arabia regarding slave-girls, and buy another slave-girl like her with her price.
Hadith 6808
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A person possessing five traits will not enter Paradise: one who persists in drinking alcohol, one who affirms magic, one who severs ties of kinship, one who practices soothsaying, and one who reminds others of his favors.
Hadith 6809
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three types of people will not enter Paradise: one who persists in drinking alcohol, one who severs ties of kinship, and one who affirms magic. And whoever dies in the state that he persists in drinking alcohol, Allah Almighty will make him drink from the river of Ghuta.
Hadith 6810
Narrated by Sayyiduna ‘Uthman bin Abi al-‘As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Prophet of Allah, Dawud (peace be upon him), had fixed a time during the night in which he would wake up his family and say: O family of Dawud! Get up and pray, for this is an hour in which Allah accepts supplications, except for the supplication of a magician and a tax collector.
