Hadith 6690
Musawwar bin Ubaid says: I came to Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ever stone anyone? He said: Yes, he stoned one of our men; his name was Ma'iz bin Malik.
Hadith 6691
Abu Zubair says: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ever stoned anyone. He said: Yes! He stoned a man from the Aslam tribe, a Jew, and a woman. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the Jew: Today we will judge you.

Naeem bin Hazzal says: Ma'iz bin Malik was under the guardianship of my father. He committed adultery with a slave woman of the tribe. My father said to him: Go to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and inform him of what you have done; perhaps the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) will pray for your forgiveness. His intention was that perhaps some way of escape might be found. So Ma'iz went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery, so carry out the ruling of Allah’s Book upon me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him. He came to the other side and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery, so carry out the ruling of Allah’s Book upon me. (The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, turned his face away.) He came a third time and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery, so carry out the ruling of Allah’s Book upon me. (The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, turned away.) Then, for the fourth time, he came before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery, so carry out the ruling of Allah’s Book upon me. This time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You have confessed four times, now tell me, with whom did you commit adultery? He said: With such-and-such woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Did you lie with her? He said: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Did you have intercourse with her? He said: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Did you commit adultery with her? He said: Yes! So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned to death. He was taken to Harrah, and when the pain of being stoned became severe, he lost control and ran away. Abdullah bin Unais (may Allah be pleased with him) met him ahead, while those stoning him had become exhausted. So Abdullah took a bone from a camel’s leg and struck him with it, and he died. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed about his running away, he said: Why did you not leave him? Perhaps he would have repented and Allah would have accepted his repentance. Naeem bin Hazzal narrated from his father that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, he said: O Hazzal! If you had concealed his fault, it would have been better for you than what you did by advising him and treating him as you did.
Hadith 6693
(Second chain) It is narrated from Naeem bin Hazzal that Sayyiduna Hazzal (may Allah be pleased with him) had hired Ma'iz bin Malik, and Hazzal had a slave girl named Fatimah, who had taken divorce from her husband and used to graze goats. Ma'iz committed an evil act with her and then informed Sayyiduna Hazzal (may Allah be pleased with him) as well. He deceived him and said: Go to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and inform him about this incident; perhaps the Holy Qur'an will be revealed regarding you and thus a better way out will be found. When he explained the details, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to be stoned, so he began to be stoned. When stones struck him, he ran away. Ahead, a man was coming with a camel's jawbone or a leg bone; he struck him with that bone and knocked him down. Later, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Hazzal! Woe to you, if you had covered him with your garment, it would have been better for you.
Hadith 6694
Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Ma'iz bin Malik was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He was a man of short stature and was only wearing a waistcloth, without an upper sheet. Meanwhile, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was reclining on a cushion on his left side. Then he (Ma'iz) spoke to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but I was far away and there were people between me and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so I could not find out (what was said). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about him: Take him away. Then he said: Bring him back. He spoke again and I was listening. This time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Take him away and stone him. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and addressed (the people) and said: When we go out in the way of Allah and a man from among the people stays behind, he makes a sound like a goat to fulfill the intensity of his desire and, with a little effort, entraps a woman. By Allah! If I gain power over such a person, I will give him a painful punishment.
Hadith 6695
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, that Ma'iz bin Malik came to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and confessed to adultery. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, turned his face away, but he came from that side and again confessed to adultery, and then repeatedly confessed. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered him to be stoned. Then it was reported to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he had been stoned. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stood up, praised and glorified Allah Almighty, and then said: What will become of those people that when we go out in the way of Allah Almighty, some man stays behind, and to fulfill the intensity of his desire, he makes a sound like a goat and, after running a little, entraps a woman? By Allah! If Allah Almighty gives me power over such a person, I will make him a lesson for the people.
Hadith 6696
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a short-statured man was brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his condition was disheveled, he was strong and well-built, he was wearing a waistcloth, and he had committed adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rejected him twice, then gave the order regarding him and he was stoned. … A narration similar to the previous narration was mentioned … Saeed bin Jubair, in his narration, transmitted these words that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rejected him four times.
Hadith 6697
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) stoned Ma'iz bin Malik to death; the narrator did not mention lashes.

It is narrated from Lajlaj, he says: We were in the market, a woman passed by there, she was carrying a child, people rushed towards her and I also rushed with them. When I reached the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he was asking that woman: Who is the father of this child? She remained silent. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, again said: Tell, who is the father of this child? She again remained silent. Meanwhile, a young man standing in front of her said: O Messenger of Allah! This woman is young and her disgraceful matter has just now occurred, O Messenger of Allah! I am the father of this child, I have committed a wrong with her. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, turned to those present, as if he was consulting them about him. The people said: We only know good and virtue about him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked the young man: Are you married? He said: Yes, I am married. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered him to be stoned. So we went, dug a pit for him, and when we overpowered him, we pelted him with stones until his soul departed. Then we returned and sat in our gathering. During this, I saw an old man, he was asking about that young man. We grabbed him by his collar and brought him to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and we said: O Messenger of Allah! This old man is going around asking about that wicked young man. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Refrain from such talk, that young man is, in the sight of Allah, more fragrant than musk. As soon as we heard this from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, we went and assisted in his washing and shrouding, then prepared a grave for him. I do not know whether the funeral prayer was mentioned or not.
