Chapter: What Has Been Reported Regarding Warning Against Adultery and the Threat for Its Doer, Especially with a Neighbor's Wife and the Absent
Hadith 6644
Under this chapter, the following sub-chapters and hadiths have been mentioned.
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَالتَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When an adulterer commits adultery, he is not a believer at that moment; when a thief steals, he is not a believer at that moment; and when a drunkard drinks alcohol, he is not a believer at that moment. And (even after these crimes) the door of repentance remains open.
Hadith 6645
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ يَعْنِي إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْإِمَامُ الْكَذَّابُ وَالشَّيْخُ الزَّانِي وَالْعَائِلُ الْمَزْهُوُّ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will not look at three types of people: a lying imam, an old adulterer, and an arrogant poor person.
Hadith 6646
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ أَكْثَرِ مَا يَلِجُ النَّاسُ بِهِ النَّارَ قَالَ الْأَجْوَفَانِ الْفَمُ وَالْفَرْجُ وَسُئِلَ عَنْ أَكْثَرِ مَا يَلِجُ بِهِ النَّاسُ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about the thing due to which most people will enter Hell. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Two things related to the belly, that is, the mouth and the private parts. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about the thing due to which most people will enter Paradise. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: It is good character.
Hadith 6647
عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ حَفِظَ مَا بَيْنَ فَقْمَيْهِ وَفَرْجِهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever safeguards that which is between his jaws and his private parts, he will enter Paradise.
Hadith 6648
عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِنَّ فَتًى مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ائْذَنْ لِي بِالزِّنَا فَأَقْبَلَ الْقَوْمُ عَلَيْهِ فَزَجَرُوهُ وَقَالُوا مَهْ مَهْ فَقَالَ ادْنُهُ فَدَنَا مِنْهُ قَرِيبًا قَالَ فَجَلَسَ قَالَ أَتُحِبُّهُ لِأُمِّكَ قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ جَعَلَنِي اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ وَلَا النَّاسُ يُحِبُّونَهُ لِأُمَّهَاتِهِمْ قَالَ أَفَتُحِبُّهُ لِابْنَتِكَ قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ جَعَلَنِي اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ وَلَا النَّاسُ يُحِبُّونَهُ لِبَنَاتِهِمْ قَالَ أَفَتُحِبُّهُ لِأُخْتِكَ قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ جَعَلَنِي اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ وَلَا النَّاسُ يُحِبُّونَهُ لِأَخَوَاتِهِمْ قَالَ أَفَتُحِبُّهُ لِعَمَّتِكَ قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ جَعَلَنِي اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ وَلَا النَّاسُ يُحِبُّونَهُ لِعَمَّاتِهِمْ قَالَ أَفَتُحِبُّهُ لِخَالَتِكَ قَالَ لَا وَاللَّهِ جَعَلَنِي اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ وَلَا النَّاسُ يُحِبُّونَهُ لِخَالَاتِهِمْ قَالَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ ذَنْبَهُ وَطَهِّرْ قَلْبَهُ وَحَصِّنْ فَرْجَهُ فَلَمْ يَكُنْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ الْفَتَى يَلْتَفِتُ إِلَى شَيْءٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that an Ansari youth came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Grant me permission to commit adultery. The people turned upon him and said: Be quiet, be quiet! But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the youth: Come closer. So he came near and sat close to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Would you like this for your mother? He replied: By Allah, never! May Allah make me a sacrifice for you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Likewise, people do not like this evil for their mothers. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Would you like this for your daughter? He replied: No, by Allah! May Allah make me a sacrifice for you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: People also do not like this evil for their daughters. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Would you like adultery for your sister? He replied: May Allah make me a sacrifice for you, I would never like this for my sister. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: People also do not like this evil for their sisters. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Would you like this for your paternal aunt? He replied: No, by Allah, I would not like it, may Allah make me a sacrifice for you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then people also do not like this for their paternal aunts. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tell me, would you like this evil for your maternal aunt? He replied: No, by Allah! I would not like it, may Allah make me a sacrifice for you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then people also do not like this evil for their maternal aunts. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his blessed hand upon him and prayed for him: O my Allah! Forgive his sins, purify his heart, and guard his chastity. After that, the youth never turned towards anything (evil) again.
Hadith 6649
عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا تَزَالُ أُمَّتِي بِخَيْرٍ مَا لَمْ يَفْشُ فِيهِمْ وَلَدُ الزِّنَا فَإِذَا فَشَا فِيهِمْ وَلَدُ الزِّنَا فَيُوشِكُ أَنْ يَعُمَّهُمُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِعِقَابٍ
Narrated by Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: My Ummah will remain upon goodness as long as illegitimate children do not become numerous among them. When illegitimate children become numerous among them, it will be near that Allah Almighty will inflict a general punishment upon them.
Hadith 6650
عَنِ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ مَا تَقُولُونَ فِي الزِّنَا قَالُوا حَرَّمَهُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ فَهُوَ حَرَامٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ لَأَنْ يَزْنِيَ الرَّجُلُ بِعَشْرِ نِسْوَةٍ أَيْسَرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَزْنِيَ بِامْرَأَةِ جَارِهِ قَالَ فَمَا تَقُولُونَ فِي السَّرِقَةِ قَالُوا حَرَّمَهَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ فَهِيَ حَرَامٌ قَالَ لَأَنْ يَسْرِقَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ عَشَرَةِ أَبْيَاتٍ أَيْسَرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَسْرِقَ مِنْ جَارِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions: "What do you say about adultery?" They said: "Allah Almighty and His Messenger have declared it forbidden, and it is forbidden until the Day of Resurrection." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For a man to commit adultery with ten women is a lesser crime than committing adultery with his neighbor's wife." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Well, what is your opinion about theft?" They said: "Allah Almighty and His Messenger have declared it forbidden, so it is forbidden." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For a man to steal from ten houses is a lesser crime than stealing from his neighbor's house."
Hadith 6651
عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ قَعَدَ عَلَى فِرَاشِ مُغِيبَةٍ قَيَّضَ اللَّهُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ثُعْبَانًا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever sits on the bed of a woman whose husband is absent from home, Allah Almighty will appoint a snake over him on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 6652
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَلِجُوا عَلَى الْمُغِيبَاتِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَجْرِي مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ مَجْرَى الدَّمِ قُلْنَا وَمِنْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَمِنِّي وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ أَعَانَنِي عَلَيْهِ فَأَسْلَمَ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: Do not enter upon those women whose husbands are not present, for indeed Satan circulates within you like blood. We said: O Messenger of Allah! Does such a Satan also have a connection with you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He was also with me, but Allah Almighty helped me against him, so he became obedient to me.
