Hadith 6561
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was distributing wealth, a man came forward and stood before him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a branch of dates in his hand, and he struck him with it, which injured his face. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come forward and take retribution from me." He said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have forgiven you."
Hadith 6562
It is narrated from Abu Firas that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon in which he mentioned a lengthy hadith and said: Beware! I do not send government officials to you so that they may strike your bodies or seize your wealth; rather, I send them to you so that they may teach you religion and the Sunnah. Whoever does anything else along with this, let him inform me. By the One in Whose hand is my soul! I will surely, surely exact retribution from him. Sayyiduna Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: O Commander of the Faithful, tell us, if a man is appointed over the people and punishes them to teach them discipline, will you also exact retribution from him? He said: Yes, absolutely. By the One in Whose hand is Umar’s soul! I will surely exact retribution from him. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) exact retribution from his own self.

Narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Abu Juhm (may Allah be pleased with him) to collect charity. A man argued with him regarding giving charity, and in response, Abu Juhm (may Allah be pleased with him) struck him and wounded his head. He came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and demanded retribution (qisas). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Take this much (as compensation). But he was not satisfied. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Come, you will get this much. But still, he was not satisfied. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Come, we will give you this much. This time, he was satisfied. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: Shall I address the people and inform them of your satisfaction? They said: Yes, that is fine. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed the people and said: These individuals from the tribe of Lays came to me, they demanded retribution, I offered them this much wealth and asked them: Are you now satisfied? They said: No. The Muhajirun wanted to say something to them, but when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered them to stop, they stopped. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called them and gave them more, and said: Are you now satisfied? They said: Yes. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, I am going to address the people and inform them about your satisfaction. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed (the people) and said: Are you now satisfied? They said: Yes.
