Hadith 6508
عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: وَاعَدَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِبْرِيلُ فِي سَاعَةٍ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُ فِيهَا فَرَثَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُ فِيهَا فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَوَجَدَهُ بِالْبَابِ قَائِمًا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنِّي انْتَظَرْتُكَ لِمِيعَادِكَ)) فَقَالَ: إِنَّ فِي الْبَيْتِ كَلْبًا وَلَا نَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلَا صُورَةٌ، وَكَانَ تَحْتَ سَرِيرِ عَائِشَةَ جِرْوُ كَلْبٍ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأُخْرِجَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِالْكِلَابِ حِينَ أَصْبَحَ فَقُتِلَتْ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Jibreel (peace be upon him) had promised the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to come at a fixed time, but he was delayed. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went outside, Jibreel (peace be upon him) was standing at the door. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: I kept waiting for you according to your promise. Sayyiduna Jibreel (peace be upon him) said: There is a dog in the house, and we do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture. In fact, there was a puppy under the bed of Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered it to be taken out, so it was taken out. Then, when morning came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the killing of dogs, and they began to be killed.
Hadith 6509
عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ! اقْتُلْ كُلَّ كَلْبٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ)) قَالَ: فَوَجَدْتُ نِسْوَةً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بِالصَّوْرَيْنِ مِنَ الْبَقِيعِ لَهُنَّ كَلْبٌ فَقُلْنَ: يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ! إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أَغْزَى رِجَالَنَا وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْكَلْبَ يَمْنَعُنَا بَعْدَ اللَّهِ، وَاللَّهِ! مَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنَا حَتَّى تَقُومَ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَّا فَتَحُولَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ فَاذْكُرْهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَذَكَرَهُ أَبُو رَافِعٍ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: ((يَا أَبَا رَافِعٍ! اقْتُلْهُ فَإِنَّمَا يَمْنَعُهُنَّ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ))
Mawla of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: O Abu Rafi’! Kill every dog in Madinah. He says: I found some Ansari women at a place called Surain near Baqi’, and they had a dog with them. They said: O Abu Rafi’! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) has sent our men to war, and after Allah, this dog protects us. By Allah! Because of the fear of this dog, no man dares to come near us until one of us gets up and drives the dog away. Go and inform the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) of all this. So Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) informed the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) of what they had said, but he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: O Abu Rafi’! Kill that dog; Allah, the Exalted, Himself will protect those women.
Hadith 6510
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ: أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَقْتُلَ الْكِلَابَ فَخَرَجْتُ أَقْتُلُهَا، لَا أَرَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا قَتَلْتُهُ فَإِذَا كَلْبٌ يَدُورُ بِبَيْتٍ فَذَهَبْتُ لِأَقْتُلَهُ فَنَادَانِي إِنْسَانٌ مِنْ جَوْفِ الْبَيْتِ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ! مَا تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَصْنَعَ؟ قُلْتُ: أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَقْتُلَ هَذَا الْكَلْبَ، فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ مَضِيعَةٌ وَإِنَّ هَذَا الْكَلْبَ يَطْرُدُ عَنِّي السَّبُعَ وَيُؤَذِّنُنِي بِالْجَائِي، فَأْتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاذْكُرْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ، قَالَ: فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَأَمَرَنِي بِقَتْلِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to kill dogs, so I went out to kill them. Whenever I saw a dog, I would kill it. There was a dog circling around a house; when I was about to kill it, a person from inside the house called out to me and said: O servant of Allah! What do you intend to do? I said: I want to kill this dog. The woman said: I live in this wilderness (which is a cause of loss and destruction), and this dog wards off wild beasts from me, and because of it I get to know about those coming and going. Therefore, go to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and inform him of this matter. So I went to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of this, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) still ordered me to kill that dog.
Hadith 6511
عَنْ جَابِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكِلَابِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ فَجَاءَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مَنْزِلِي شَاسِعٌ وَلِي كَلْبٌ فَرَخَّصَ لَهُ أَيَّامًا ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ كَلْبِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the killing of the dogs of Madinah Munawwarah. Sayyiduna Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "My house is far from the settlement and I have a dog that guards it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission for a few days, but then ordered that this dog also be killed.
Hadith 6512
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ حَتَّى قَتَلْنَا كَلْبَ امْرَأَةٍ جَاءَتْ مِنَ الْبَادِيَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the killing of dogs (and we began to kill dogs) to the extent that we even killed the dog of a woman who came from the villages.
Hadith 6513
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ الْعِينِ
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the killing of dogs with wide eyes.
Hadith 6514
عَنِ الْحَسَنِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ عُثْمَانَ يَأْمُرُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ وَذَبْحِ الْحَمَامِ
Sayyiduna Hasan Basri (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) says: I was present at the sermon of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and in his sermon, he ordered the killing of dogs and the slaughtering of pigeons.
