8 hadith
Hadith 6494
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing household snakes, except for two types: the snake with a short tail and the one with two stripes on its back, for they snatch away eyesight and cause miscarriages in women. Whoever leaves these two (without killing them) is not from among us.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing snakes that live in houses, except for two types: one that has two stripes on its back, and the other, the short-tailed harmful snake. These two cause blindness and cause pregnant women to miscarry.

Hadith 6496
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Kill snakes, especially the one with two stripes on its back and the short-tailed harmful snake, for both of them cause miscarriage and take away eyesight. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah or Sayyiduna Zaid bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw me chasing a snake to kill it, so he forbade me from doing so. I said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has ordered to kill them, but he said that later the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing household snakes.

Imam Nafi narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to order the killing of all kinds of snakes. One day, Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission from him to enter the mosque through his window and saw him killing a snake. So Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Has it not reached you that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing household snakes and ordered the killing of that snake which has two stripes on its back?

Sayyiduna Zaid bin Aslam narrates that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) opened one of his windows, and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) was also present with him. Suddenly, a snake appeared. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) ordered it to be killed, but Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded that they should be warned before being killed.

Abu Sa’ib says: I came to Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) and was sitting with him when I felt something moving under his bed. I saw that it was a snake, so I stood up. Sayyiduna Abu Sa’id (may Allah be pleased with him) said: What is the matter? I said: There is a snake here. He said: What do you intend to do? I said: To kill it. He pointed towards a house in front of his own and said: My nephew used to live in that house. When he returned from the Battle of Ahzab, he sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to go to his house. He had recently gotten married. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission and instructed him to go armed. When he came to his house, he saw his wife standing at the door. Out of jealousy, he pointed his spear towards her, but she said: Do not be hasty, first see what made me come out. When he entered the house, he saw a repulsive kind of snake. The young man struck it with his spear and tried to drag it out with the spear. The snake was writhing. I do not know whether the man died first or the snake. Then the people of his tribe came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Pray to Allah to return our companion to us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said twice: Seek forgiveness for your companion. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Some individuals from among the jinn have accepted Islam. When you see them, warn them three times, that is, for three days. If they still appear after three days, then if you wish to kill them, you may do so.

(Second Chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, that a man saw a snake in his house and he pierced it with a spear, but the snake did not die, until that man himself passed away. When the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was informed of this incident, he said: Among you, there are also jinn inhabiting the houses, so when you see any of them, create difficulty for them for three days. If you still see them after three days, then kill them.
