A companion of the Messenger narrates that we were on an expedition towards Persia, during which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever sleeps on the roof of a house that has no covering (or barrier), and if he falls and dies, then there will be no liability for him. Similarly, whoever undertakes a sea journey while the sea is turbulent, and he (drowns and) dies, then there will also be no liability for him.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a wall that was leaning to one side. He (peace and blessings be upon him) quickly passed by it. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the reason for this haste, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I dislike sudden death.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is not befitting for any Muslim to humiliate himself. Someone asked: How does a person humiliate himself? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: He exposes himself to such calamities and trials which he cannot bear.
