Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever gives such testimony against a Muslim for which that Muslim is not deserving, then such a person should prepare his abode in Hell.
Hadith 6436
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him): The major sins were mentioned in the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Associating partners with Allah and disobedience to parents are major sins. He was reclining while saying this, then he sat up straight and said: And giving false testimony, giving false testimony or speaking falsehood (are also major sins). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement so many times that we began to say, "Would that he (peace and blessings be upon him) would become silent." On one occasion, it was narrated that Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not inform you of the gravest of sins? Associating partners with Allah, ... . (The hadith)
Hadith 6437
Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself mentioned the major sins or someone asked him about them. In any case, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Associating partners with Allah, killing a soul, and disobeying parents. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not inform you of the greatest of sins? And that is false speech or giving false testimony. Imam Shu’bah says: I am more inclined to think that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke about giving false testimony.
Hadith 6438
Ayman bin Khuraym (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us and said: O people! False testimony has been equated with associating partners with Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement three times and then recited this verse: So avoid the filth of idols and avoid false speech.
Hadith 6439
Sayyiduna Khuraim bin Fatik Asadi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the morning prayer. When he finished the prayer, he stood up and said: False testimony has been equated with associating partners with Allah Almighty. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: Avoid false speech, be upright for Allah, and do not be among those who associate partners with Him.
