بَابُ شَهَادَةِ النِّسَاءِ
Chapter: Testimony of women
Hadith 6429
عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ تَزَوَّجْتُ ابْنَةَ أَبِي إِهَابٍ فَجَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَذَكَرَتْ أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْنَا فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُمْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَكَلَّمْتُهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا هِيَ سَوْدَاءُ قَالَ وَكَيْفَ وَقَدْ قِيلَ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I married the daughter of Abu Wahab, but then a black woman came and said that she had breastfed both of us (husband and wife). Upon hearing this, I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and stood before him and told him about it, but he turned away from me. Then I moved to his right side and said the same thing, but he again turned away from me. I said: O Messenger of Allah! She is just a common black woman (how can her word be trusted?). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: How can you two stay together now, when this has been said?
