بَابُ التَّشْدِيدِ عَلَى الْحُكَّامِ الْجَائِرِينَ وَفَضْلِ الْمُقْسِطِينَ
Chapter: Strictness regarding unjust judges and the virtue of the just
Hadith 6397
عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ: عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((مَا مِنْ حَاكِمٍ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ إِلَّا حُبِسَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَلَكٌ آخِذٌ بِقَفَاهُ حَتَّى يُوقِفَهُ عَلَى جَهَنَّمَ، ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُ رَأْسَهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَإِنْ قَالَ: أَلْقِهِ، أَلْقَاهُ فِي جَهَنَّمَ يَهْوِي أَرْبَعِينَ خَرِيفًا))
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated once or twice that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever is a ruler and judges between people, on the Day of Resurrection he will be stopped, and an angel will seize him by the neck and bring him very close to Hell. Then that angel will raise his head and look towards Allah Almighty. If Allah Almighty commands, “Throw him,” then the angel will throw him into Hell, and he will keep falling for forty years.
Hadith 6398
عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((يَدُ اللَّهِ مَعَ الْقَاضِي حِينَ يَقْضِي، وَيَدُ اللَّهِ مَعَ الْقَاسِمِ حِينَ يَقْسِمُ))
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a judge makes a decision, the hand of Allah Almighty is with him, and likewise, when a person distributes wealth, the hand of Allah Almighty is with him (that is, as long as they continue to act justly).
Hadith 6399
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: ((أَتَدْرُونَ مَنِ السَّابِقُونَ إِلَى ظِلِّ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ؟)) قَالُوا: اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: ((الَّذِينَ إِذَا أُعْطُوا الْحَقَّ قَبِلُوهُ، وَإِذَا سُئِلُوهُ بَذَلُوهُ، وَحَكَمُوا لِلنَّاسِ كَحُكْمِهِمْ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ))
Narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know who are the people who will hasten towards the shade of Allah Almighty on the Day of Resurrection? The people said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are those who, when the truth reaches them, accept it; and when the truth is asked from them, they spend it; and when they judge for the people, they judge as if they are judging for themselves.
Hadith 6400
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((إِنَّ الْمُقْسِطِينَ فِي الدُّنْيَا عَلَى مَنَابِرَ مِنْ لُؤْلُؤٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِمَا أَقْسَطُوا فِي الدُّنْيَا))
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those who are just in this world will be seated upon pulpits of pearls before Allah Almighty on the Day of Resurrection, because they acted with justice in the world.
Hadith 6401
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((الْمُقْسِطُونَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى مَنَابِرَ مِنْ نُورٍ عَلَى يَمِينِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَكِلْتَا يَدَيْهِ يَمِينٌ، الَّذِينَ يَعْدِلُونَ فِي حُكْمِهِمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ وَمَا وَلُوا))
(Second chain) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Those who act justly will be on pulpits of light at the right side of Allah Almighty on the Day of Resurrection, while both of Allah Almighty’s hands are right. These are the people who are just in their judgments, towards their families, and regarding those under their authority and subordinates.
Hadith 6402
عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ قَالَ: أَمَرَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَقْضِيَ بَيْنَ قَوْمٍ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا أُحْسِنُ أَنْ أَقْضِيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! قَالَ: ((اللَّهُ مَعَ الْقَاضِي مَا لَمْ يَحِفْ عَمْدًا))
Narrated by Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to judge between people. I said: O Messenger of Allah! I cannot judge well. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty is with the judge as long as he does not commit injustice.
