Hadith 6174
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْطَعَ الزُّبَيْرَ حُضْرَ فَرْسِهِ بِأَرْضٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا ثُرَيْرٌ فَأَجْرَى الْفَرَسَ حَتَّى قَامَ ثُمَّ رَمَى بِسَوْطِهِ فَقَالَ أَعْطُوهُ حَيْثُ بَلَغَ السَّوْطُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) allotted to Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) a piece of land called Thareer, as much as his horse could run. So he made his horse run, and when it stopped, he threw his whip. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give him as much land as his whip has reached.
Hadith 6175
عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَقْطَعَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَرْضَ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَذَهَبَ الزُّبَيْرُ إِلَى آلِ عُمَرَ فَاشْتَرَى نَصِيبَهُ فَأَتَى عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ زَعَمَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْطَعَهُ وَعُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَرْضَ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَإِنِّي اشْتَرَيْتُ نَصِيبَ آلِ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ جَائِزُ الشَّهَادَةِ لَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted me and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) such-and-such land as a fief. Then Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the family of Umar and bought their share, and came to Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) believes that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) such-and-such land as a fief, and I have bought the share of the family of Umar. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) is a truthful witness, whether it is in his favor or against him.
Hadith 6176
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعَا الْأَنْصَارَ لِيُقْطِعَ لَهُمُ الْبَحْرَيْنِ فَقَالُوا لَا حَتَّى تُقْطِعَ لِإِخْوَانِنَا الْمُهَاجِرِينَ مِثْلَنَا فَقَالَ إِنَّكُمْ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي
Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) called the Ansar to allot them the land of Bahrain, but they said: No, (we will not take this land) unless you give our Muhajir brothers a similar estate. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Surely, after me, you will see others being preferred over you, so be patient until you meet me.
Hadith 6177
عَنْ كُلْثُومٍ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَّثَ النِّسَاءَ خِطَطَهُنَّ
It is narrated from Sayyida Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made women the heirs of their homes.
Hadith 6178
وَعَنْهَا مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ قَالَتْ كَانَتْ زَيْنَبُ تَفْلِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَهُ امْرَأَةُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَعْظُونٍ وَنِسَاءٌ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ يَشْكُونَ مَنَازِلَهُنَّ وَأَنَّهُنَّ يُخْرَجْنَ مِنْهُ وَيُضَيَّقُ عَلَيْهِنَّ فِيهِ فَتَكَلَّمَتْ زَيْنَبُ وَتَرَكَتْ رَأْسَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّكِ لَسْتِ تَكَلَّمِينَ بِعَيْنَيْكِ تَكَلَّمِي وَاعْمَلِي عَمَلَكِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَنْ يُوَرَّثَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ النِّسَاءُ فَمَاتَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَوَرِثَتْهُ امْرَأَتُهُ دَارًا بِالْمَدِينَةِ
(Kulthum narrates:) Sayyida Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) was removing lice from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and with him were the wife of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) and some emigrant women sitting. They were complaining about their homes, that (after the death of their husbands) they are expelled from their homes and hardship is imposed upon them. Sayyida Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) also left the blessed head of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and began to talk, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "You should not talk with your eyes; speak as well as do your work." (After hearing all these things) at that time the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that women should be made heirs of (their emigrant husbands). Thus, when Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, his wife became the heir of his house in Madinah.
Hadith 6179
عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْطَعَهُ أَرْضًا قَالَ فَأَرْسَلَ مَعِيَ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَنْ أَعْطِيهَا إِيَّاهُ أَوْ قَالَ أَعْلِمْهَا إِيَّاهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي مُعَاوِيَةُ أَرْدِفْنِي خَلْفَكَ فَقُلْتُ لَا تَكُونُ مِنْ أَرْدَافِ الْمُلُوكِ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَعْطِنِي نَعْلَكَ فَقُلْتُ انْتَعِلْ ظِلَّ النَّاقَةِ قَالَ فَلَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَتَيْتُهُ فَأَقْعَدَنِي مَعَهُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ فَذَكَّرَنِي الْحَدِيثَ فَقَالَ سِمَاكٌ أَحَدُ الرُّوَاةِ فَقَالَ وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ حَمَلْتُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Wa’il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) allotted him a piece of land and sent Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) with him so that he could give me this land or point it out to me. Sayyiduna Wa’il (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Let me ride behind you, but I said: O Mu’awiyah! You are not among those who ride behind kings (or become their deputies). He said: Then give me your shoe (so that I may protect myself from the harshness of the ground), I said: Walk in the shade of the she-camel. Then, when Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) was chosen as caliph and I went to him, he seated me with him on the throne and reminded me of this incident. I said: Now I wish that I had seated you in front of me.
Hadith 6180
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَلَ أَهْلَ خَيْبَرَ بِشَطْرِ مَا خَرَجَ مِنْ زَرْعٍ أَوْ تَمْرٍ فَكَانَ يُعْطِي أَزْوَاجَهُ كُلَّ عَامٍ مِائَةَ وَسْقٍ ثَمَانِينَ وَسْقًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَسْقًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ فَلَمَّا قَامَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ قَسَمَ خَيْبَرَ فَخَيَّرَ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُقْطِعَ لَهُنَّ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ أَوْ يَضْمَنَ لَهُنَّ الْوُسُوقَ كُلَّ عَامٍ فَاخْتَلَفْنَ فَمِنْهُنَّ مَنِ اخْتَارَ أَنْ يُقْطِعَ لَهَا الْأَرْضَ وَمِنْهُنَّ مَنِ اخْتَارَ الْوُسُوقَ وَكَانَتْ حَفْصَةُ وَعَائِشَةُ مِمَّنِ اخْتَارَ الْوُسُوقَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made an agreement with the people of Khaybar for half of the produce of the crops or fruits. Every year, he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give his wives eighty wasqs of dates and twenty wasqs of barley, that is, a total of one hundred wasqs. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became the caliph and distributed Khaybar, he gave the pure wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the choice that land be allotted to them or, as per the previous routine, they be given wasqs every year. The Mothers of the Believers adopted different approaches; some preferred that land be allotted to them in their names, and some preferred that they be given wasqs. Sayyida Hafsa and Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with them both) were among those who preferred the wasqs.
