It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who gives it, those who bear witness to it, the one who writes about it, the one who joins hair for the sake of beauty and the one for whom it is joined, the one who does not pay zakat, the one who performs halalah and the one for whom halalah is performed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed all these individuals, and he forbade wailing.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who gives it, its two witnesses, and the one who records its transaction.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: A time will come upon the people when they will consume usury. Someone asked: Will all the people become usurers? He replied: If anyone does not consume it, its dust will surely reach him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, usury, even if it increases, its end is always scarcity. The command of Allah Almighty is: {یَمْحَقُاللّٰہُالرِّبَاوَیُرْبِیْالصَّدَقَاتِ۔} … Allah destroys usury and increases charity. (Surah Al-Baqarah: 276) (These words in red are explanatory.)
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah Hanzala (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: One dirham of usury which a person consumes knowingly is more severe than committing adultery thirty-six times.
Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) says: If I were to commit adultery thirty-three times, I would consider this evil to be lighter than consuming one dirham of usury, while Allah Almighty knows that I am consuming it knowing it to be usury.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When usury becomes widespread in a nation, it is afflicted with famine, and when bribery becomes common in a nation, the awe of others is imposed upon it.

Narrated by Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The night I was taken on the Mi'raj, I saw a man swimming in a river and stones were being thrown into his mouth. I asked: What is this? It was said to me: This is the usurer (one who consumes interest).
