It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever hoards for forty nights, he is absolved from Allah and Allah is absolved from him. And if there is a hungry person with any household (and they do not feed him), then Allah's guarantee is also lifted from them.

Hadith 5944
Mawla Usman Farukh narrated that one day Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who was at that time the Commander of the Faithful, went towards the mosque and saw scattered grain there and asked: What is this grain? The people said: This grain has been brought for us from outside. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: May Allah bless it and the one who brought it. Meanwhile, someone said: O Commander of the Faithful! This is hoarded wealth. He asked: Who has hoarded it? The people said: The slave of Sayyiduna Usman (may Allah be pleased with him), Farukh, and a slave of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) himself have hoarded it. He called both of them, so they came. He asked: What made you inclined to hoard the Muslims’ grain? Both of them said: O Commander of the Faithful! We buy and sell such things with our own wealth. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever hoards the Muslims’ grain, Allah Almighty will afflict him with poverty or leprosy. Farukh immediately said: O Commander of the Faithful! I make a covenant with Allah Almighty and then with you that I will not hoard grain in the future. But the slave of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We buy and sell things with our own wealth. Abu Yahya says: Later, I saw that slave of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) afflicted with leprosy.
