Abu Saba’ says: I bought a she-camel from the house of Wathila bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him). When I took it outside, Sayyiduna Wathila (may Allah be pleased with him) ran after me, dragging his cloak, and reached me and said: “O servant of Allah! Have you bought this she-camel?” I said: “Yes.” He said: “Did the one you bought it from inform you of its defect?” I said: “What defect does it have? Apparently, it is fat and looks healthy.” He said: “Well, tell me, did you buy it for travel or for its meat?” I said: “I want to ride it and perform Hajj on it.” He said: “There is a hole in its foot.” The owner of the she-camel said: “May Allah set you right, what do you want from me now? You are spoiling it for me!” He (Wathila) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘It is not lawful for anyone to sell a defective thing except that he makes its defect clear. It is not lawful for a person who knows (of a defect) except that he explains it.’”
Hadith 5927
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. It is not lawful for any Muslim to conceal such a defect in his goods from his brother that if the buyer were to find out about it, he would leave that thing.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by a man who was selling grain. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, inquired about the manner of his selling. He explained the details to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, but at that moment, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was informed by revelation to put his hand into the grain. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, put his blessed hand inside, he found it to be wet underneath. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: He is not from among us who deceives.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a heap of grain. Its owner had arranged it in a very beautiful manner. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his blessed hand inside it, he found that it was inferior grain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Sell this separately and that separately. Whoever deceives us is not from us."

Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A man took wine and boarded a boat with the intention of selling it. Meanwhile, a monkey grabbed his bag and climbed up the mast of the boat, and started throwing one dinar into the sea and one into the boat, until all the dinars were distributed.
