Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that an Ansari or a Qurayshi man used to be deceived in business transactions, and he had a stammer in his speech. So he complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about the loss he suffered. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: When you are about to make a deal, say: “No deception.” Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: By Allah! It is as if I am still hearing him stammering and saying: “No deception.”

Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): In the blessed era of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), there was a man who used to trade, but he was somewhat weak in intellect. Therefore, his family came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Please put a restriction on this man, because he makes deals and is weak-minded (thus he suffers losses)." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called him and forbade him from trading, but he said, "O Messenger of Allah! I cannot live without trading." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If you cannot give up this buying and selling, then when you make a deal, say: 'Take this, sir, and give that,' but let there be no deception."

Muhammad, while narrating an incident, says: When he came, Abdullah was given the choice between thirty thousand and silver vessels; he chose the vessels. Then, when traders came from (the region of Bahrain) Darin, Abdullah sold them ten of those silver vessels in exchange for thirteen vessels. Then, when he met Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: Do you know how I deceived them? He asked: How? Then he explained the whole detail. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I urge you or I swear to you that you must return this transaction, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade such trade.
