باب مَا جَاءَ فِي فَضْلِ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمُضَاعَفَةِ أَجْرٍ فَاعِلِهَا
Chapter: What has been reported regarding the virtue of sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the multiplied reward for doing so
Hadith 5708
عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَالسُّرُورُ يُرَى فِي وَجْهِهِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَى السُّرُورَ فِي وَجْهِكَ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ أَتَانِي مَلَكٌ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَمَا يُرْضِيكَ أَنَّ رَبَّكَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ لَا يُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ إِلَّا صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ إِلَّا سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا قَالَ بَلَى
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) came to us and signs of happiness were visible on his blessed face. We said: O Messenger of Allah! We see joy on your face. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: (The reason is that) an angel came to me and said: O Muhammad! Does it not please you that Allah Almighty says: Whoever from your Ummah sends blessings upon you once, I will send ten mercies upon him, and whoever from your Ummah prays for peace upon you once, I will send ten peaces upon him? I said: Why not, I am pleased.
Hadith 5709
مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَيْضًا نَحْوُهُ وَفِيهِ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ صَلَاةً كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ وَمَحَا عَنْهُ عَشْرَ سَيِّئَاتٍ وَرَفَعَ لَهُ عَشْرَ دَرَجَاتٍ وَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلَهَا
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), then a similar narration is mentioned, however, with this detail: Whoever from your Ummah sends blessings upon you, Allah Almighty will write ten good deeds for him, forgive ten of his sins, raise him by ten degrees, and will return a similar blessing upon him.
Hadith 5710
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلَاةً وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرَ صَلَوَاتٍ وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ عَشْرَ خَطِيئَاتٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah Almighty will send ten mercies upon him and will forgive ten of his sins.
Hadith 5711
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah Almighty will send ten mercies upon him.
Hadith 5712
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ بِهَا عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah Almighty will write ten good deeds for him.
Hadith 5713
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَقُولُ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَمَلَائِكَتُهُ سَبْعِينَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُقِلَّ عَبْدٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ لِيُكْثِرْ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Whoever sends blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once, Allah Almighty will send seventy mercies upon him, and His angels will supplicate for mercy for him seventy times. Now it is up to the servant whether he sends blessings less or more.
Hadith 5714
وَفِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ قَالَ لِي أَلَا أُبَشِّرُكَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ لَكَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ صَلَّيْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ زَادَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ فَسَجَدْتُ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ شُكْرًا
In the hadith of Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), it is mentioned that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Indeed, Jibreel (peace be upon him) said to me: Shall I not give you glad tidings that Allah, the Exalted, has said to you: Whoever sends blessings upon you, I will send mercy upon him, and whoever prays for peace for you, I will send peace upon him. In another narration, it is mentioned: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I prostrated to Allah, the Exalted, in gratitude.
Hadith 5715
عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلَاةً لَمْ تَزَلِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ مَا صَلَّى عَلَيَّ فَلْيُقِلَّ عَبْدٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَوْ لِيُكْثِرْ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said while addressing: Whoever sends blessings upon me, the angels continue to pray for mercy for him as long as he keeps sending blessings upon me. Now it is up to the servant whether he does so little or much.
Hadith 5716
عَنْ رُوَيْفِعِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْزِلْهُ الْمَقْعَدَ الْمُقَرَّبَ عِنْدَكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَجَبَتْ لَهُ شَفَاعَتِي
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ruwayfi’ bin Thabit Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever sends blessings upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and says: "O Allah! Grant him the nearest station to You on the Day of Resurrection," then my intercession will become obligatory for him.
Hadith 5717
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَلَائِكَةً سَيَّاحِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ يُبَلِّغُونِي مِنْ أُمَّتِي السَّلَامَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, some angels of Allah Almighty roam about on the earth; they convey to me the greetings (salaam) from my Ummah.
Hadith 5718
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيَّ إِلَّا رَدَّ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَيَّ رُوحِي حَتَّى أَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامَ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no person who sends blessings upon me, except that Allah returns my soul to me so that I may reply to his greeting.
Hadith 5719
عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جَعَلْتُ صَلَاتِي كُلَّهَا عَلَيْكَ قَالَ إِذَنْ يَكْفِيكَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى مَا أَهَمَّكَ مِنْ دُنْيَاكَ وَآخِرَتِكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about this: if I devote my supplication time to sending blessings upon you, then? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then Allah, the Exalted, will suffice you in every matter that grieves you in the affairs of this world and the Hereafter.
