Hadith 5594
عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ طَارِقِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا جَاءَ مَكَانًا مِنْ دَارِ يَعْلَى نَسِيَهُ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ اسْتَقْبَلَ الْبَيْتَ فَدَعَا قَالَ رَوْحٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَقَالَ ابْنُ بَكْرٍ عَنْ أُمِّهِ
Abdur Rahman bin Alqamah narrates from his uncle that whenever the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to such-and-such place near the house of Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him), he would face the Qiblah and supplicate. The narrator Ubaidullah forgot the name of that place, and the narrator Ibn Bakr mentioned his mother instead of the uncle of Abdur Rahman.
Hadith 5595
مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ طَارِقِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا جَاءَ مَكَانًا مِنْ دَارِ يَعْلَى نَسِيَهُ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ اسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَدَعَا
(Second chain) Whenever the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to such-and-such place near the house of Sayyiduna Ya’la (may Allah be pleased with him), he would face the Qiblah and supplicate. ‘Ubaydullah forgot the exact location of that place.
Hadith 5596
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمُدُّ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأَرَى بَيَاضَ إِبْطَيْهِ وَقَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, he stretched his hands so much that I could see the whiteness of his armpits. The narrator Sulaiman said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was supplicating for rain at that time.
Hadith 5597
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدِ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاقِفًا بِعَرَفَةَ يَدْعُو هَكَذَا وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِيَالَ ثَنْدُوَتَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ بُطُونَ كَفَّيْهِ مِمَّا يَلِي الْأَرْضَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing at the place of Arafah making supplication in such a manner that he had raised his hands to the level of his chest and the inner part of his palms was facing towards the ground.
Hadith 5598
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا دَعَا جَعَلَ ظَاهِرَ كَفَّيْهِ مِمَّا يَلِي وَجْهَهُ وَبَاطِنَهُمَا مِمَّا يَلِي الْأَرْضَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that when the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would supplicate, the backs of his hands would be towards his face and the inner part of his palms would be towards the ground.
Hadith 5599
عَنْ قَتَادَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ أَنَسًا حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ وَقَالَ يَحْيَى مَرَّةً مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ إِلَّا فِي الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not raise his hands in any supplication, except when asking for rain. On that occasion, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his hands so much that the whiteness of his armpits would become visible.
Hadith 5600
عَنْ خَلَّادِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا سَأَلَ جَعَلَ بَاطِنَ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَيْهِ وَفِي لَفْظٍ إِلَى وَجْهِهِ وَإِذَا اسْتَعَاذَ جَعَلَ ظَاهِرَهُمَا إِلَيْهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khallad bin Sa’ib Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate, he would turn the inner part of his palms towards his face, and when he sought refuge, he would turn the backs of his palms towards his face.
Hadith 5601
عَنْ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ قَالَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُنْتُ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ يَدْعُو فَمَالَتْ بِهِ نَاقَتُهُ فَسَقَطَ خِطَامُهَا قَالَ فَتَنَاوَلَ الْخِطَامَ بِإِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ وَهُوَ رَافِعٌ يَدَهُ الْأُخْرَى
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of Arafat. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands to make supplication. Due to the camel leaning to one side, its rein fell down. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) caught the rein with one hand, while he kept the other hand raised for supplication.
Hadith 5602
عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَاهِرًا يَدَيْهِ قَطُّ يَدْعُو عَلَى مِنْبَرٍ وَلَا غَيْرِهِ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُو إِلَّا يَضَعُ يَدَيْهِ حَذْوَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَيُشِيرُ بِأُصْبُعِهِ إِشَارَةً
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I did not see the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raising his hands excessively while supplicating, neither on the pulpit nor on any other occasion. He (peace and blessings be upon him) would supplicate by keeping his hands at the level of his shoulders and would point with his finger.
Hadith 5603
عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَفْتِحُ دُعَاءً إِلَّا اسْتَفْتَحَهُ بِسُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَى الْعَلِيِّ الْوَهَّابِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I heard that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to supplicate, he would start with these words: Subhana Rabbi al-A’la al-‘Aliyy al-Wahhab (Glory is to my Lord, the Most High, the Exalted, the Bestower).
Hadith 5604
عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا دَعَا فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) would supplicate, he would raise his hands and then (at the end) wipe them over his face.
