It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever recites this supplication: BISMILLAHILLADHI LA YADURRU ... WA HUWA AS-SAMI’UL ‘ALEEM (In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing in the earth or the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing), nothing will harm him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) feared any man or nation, he would recite this supplication: "O Allah! Indeed, I place You before them, and we seek refuge in You from their evils." (O Allah! Surely, I set You against them and we seek Your protection from their evils.)
