Hadith 5549
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a person comes to his bed, he should take the edge of his lower garment and use it to dust off his bed, for he does not know what has happened after him. Then he should lie down on his right side and recite this supplication: "BISMIKA RABBI WADA'TU JANBI, IN AMSAKTA NAFSI FARHAMHA, WA IN ARSALTAHA FAHFADHA BIMA HAFIDHTA BIHI 'IBADAKA AS-SALIHIN." (O my Lord! In Your name I have laid down my side. If You take my soul, then have mercy on it, and if You release it, then protect it as You protect Your righteous servants.)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever wakes up at night and recites this dhikr: "There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is over all things competent. Glory be to Allah, and all praise is for Allah, and Allah is the Greatest. There is no power and no strength except with Allah." Then says: "My Lord, forgive me," or the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: then he supplicates to Allah, his supplication will be accepted. And if he makes ablution with determination and performs prayer, his prayer will be accepted.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Satan ties three knots at the back of one of you’s head. On each knot, he pats and says: “You have a long night ahead, so sleep.” The narrator once said: He keeps patting on each knot for a long night. But when a person wakes up and remembers Allah Almighty, one knot is untied. When he performs ablution, the second knot is untied. And when he offers prayer, the third knot is untied. Thus, when he enters the morning, he is good-spirited, cheerful, and pleasant. Otherwise, he is ill-spirited and lazy.
