Hadith 5519
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا نَامَ وَضَعَ يَمِينَهُ تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ وَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَجْمَعُ عِبَادَكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go to sleep, he would place his right hand under his right cheek and recite this supplication: "Allahumma qini ‘adhabaka yawma tajma‘u ‘ibadaka" (O Allah! On the day You gather Your servants, save me from Your punishment).
Hadith 5520
عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى تَحْتَ خَدِّهِ وَقَالَ رَبِّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ أَوْ تَجْمَعُ عِبَادَكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to his bed, he would place his right hand under his right cheek and recite this supplication: "Rabb! Protect me from Your punishment on the Day You raise Your servants." (O my Lord! On the day You raise Your servants, save me from Your punishment.) In one narration, instead of "You raise" (tab’athu), the words "You gather" (tajma’u) are mentioned.
Hadith 5521
عَنْ حَفْصَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرْفُوعًا مِثْلَهُ وَفِيهِ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ ثَلَاثًا
It is narrated from the wife of the Messenger, Sayyida Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), and she also reported a similar marfu’ narration, except that in it, it is mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite this supplication three times.
Hadith 5522
عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ وَرَجُلٍ آخَرَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ تَوَسَّدَ يَمِينَهُ وَيَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَجْمَعُ عِبَادَكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah intended to sleep, he would place his right hand under his head and recite this supplication: “Allahumma qini ‘adhabaka yawma tajma‘u ‘ibadaka” (O Allah! Protect me from Your punishment on the Day when You gather Your servants).
Hadith 5523
عَنْ يَعِيشَ بْنِ طِهْفَةَ الْغِفَارِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ ضِفْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيمَنْ تَضَيَّفَهُ مِنَ الْمَسَاكِينِ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي اللَّيْلِ يَتَعَاهَدُ ضَيْفَهُ فَرَآنِي مُنْبَطِحًا عَلَى بَطْنِي فَرَكَضَنِي بِرِجْلِهِ وَقَالَ لَا تَضْطَجِعْ هَذِهِ الضِّجْعَةَ فَإِنَّهَا ضِجْعَةٌ يُبْغِضُهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tuhfa Ghafari (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: I was also among those needy ones whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) hosted. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) came to us at night with the intention of looking after the guests, and found me lying on my stomach. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) nudged me with his foot and said: Do not lie like this; Allah Almighty dislikes this way of lying.
Hadith 5524
عَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُ ضَافَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ نَفَرٍ قَالَ فَبِتْنَا عِنْدَهُ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ يَطَّلِعُ فَرَآهُ مُنْبَطِحًا عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَرَكَضَهُ بِرِجْلِهِ فَأَيْقَظَهُ وَقَالَ هَذِهِ ضِجْعَةُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tufayl (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was a guest of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) along with a group. We spent the night with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us during the night and found me lying on my stomach. He woke me up and said: "This is the way of lying down of the people of Hell."
Hadith 5525
عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَمْرَو بْنَ الشَّرِيدِ يَقُولُ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى رَجُلٍ وَهُوَ رَاقِدٌ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ هَذَا أَبْغَضُ الرُّقَادِ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Shuraid, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by a man who was sleeping on his face. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "This manner of sleeping is the most disliked by Allah Almighty."
Hadith 5526
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرَجُلٍ مُضْطَجِعٍ عَلَى بَطْنِهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ لَضِجْعَةٌ مَا يُحِبُّهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by a man who was lying on his stomach. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty does not like this way of lying.
Hadith 5527
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الْوَحْدَةِ أَنْ يَبِيتَ الرَّجُلُ وَحْدَهُ أَوْ يُسَافِرَ وَحْدَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade solitude, that is, for a man to spend the night alone and to travel alone.
