باب مَا جَاءَ فِي فَضْلِ حِلَقِ الذِّكْرِ وَمَجَالِسِهِ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِ
Chapter on the Virtue of Circles of Remembrance and Their Gatherings in the Mosques
Hadith 5415
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا مَرَرْتُمْ بِرِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ فَارْتَعُوا قَالُوا وَمَا رِيَاضُ الْجَنَّةِ قَالَ حِلَقُ الذِّكْرِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When you pass by the gardens of Paradise, benefit from them. The people asked: What is meant by the gardens of Paradise? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The gatherings of remembrance (dhikr).
Hadith 5416
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ خَرَجَ مُعَاوِيَةُ عَلَى حَلْقَةٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ قَالُوا جَلَسْنَا نَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ آللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ إِلَّا ذَاكَ قَالُوا آللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَنَا إِلَّا ذَاكَ قَالَ أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْتَحْلِفْكُمْ تُهْمَةً لَكُمْ وَمَا كَانَ أَحَدٌ بِمَنْزِلَتِي مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقَلَّ عَنْهُ حَدِيثًا مِنِّي وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ عَلَى حَلْقَةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ قَالُوا جَلَسْنَا نَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَنَحْمَدُهُ عَلَى مَا هَدَانَا لِلْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنَّ عَلَيْنَا بِكَ قَالَ آللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَكُمْ إِلَّا ذَلِكَ قَالُوا آللَّهِ مَا أَجْلَسَنَا إِلَّا ذَلِكَ قَالَ أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَسْتَحْلِفْكُمْ تُهْمَةً لَكُمْ وَإِنَّهُ أَتَانِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُبَاهِي بِكُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to a gathering that was being held in the mosque and said: "What has made you people sit here?" They said: "We are sitting and remembering Allah, the Exalted." He said: "By Allah! Is it really only this that has made you sit here?" The people said: "By Allah! We are sitting only for this purpose." He said: "I did not make you swear an oath because of any suspicion, and there is no one who is closer to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and narrates fewer hadith than me, except me. Anyway, one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to a circle of his companions and said: 'What has made you sit here?' They said: 'We are sitting and remembering Allah, the Exalted, and for this reason we are praising Him, because He has guided us and has bestowed His favor upon us through you.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'By Allah! Is it really only this that has made you sit here?' They said: 'Yes, by Allah! We are sitting only for this reason.' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Beware! I did not make you swear an oath because of any suspicion or doubt. In fact, the matter is that Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me and informed me that Allah, the Exalted, is boasting of you to the angels because of you.'"
Hadith 5417
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ سَيَعْلَمُ أَهْلُ الْجَمْعِ مَنْ أَهْلُ الْكَرَمِ فَقِيلَ وَمَنْ أَهْلُ الْكَرَمِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ مَجَالِسُ الذِّكْرِ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, the Lord Almighty will say: The people of honor shall be recognized from among all creation. Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who are meant by the people of honor? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Those who attend the gatherings of remembrance held in the mosques.
